I'll always love star wars, yet I'd be lying if I said I thought it was in the greatest place right now. In many ways, star wars have become a lost franchise. No longer sure of what it's about or what its future holds. In many ways, I just made this video as my way of coping with that.

You don’t have to love all Star Wars. That’s impossible. I’ve been a fan of Star Wars since long before Disney. All you can do is pick and choose what you care about, especially as Disney and Lucasfilm are determined to make the franchise as divisive as possible these days. So no matter what, if it gets better, if it gets worse, just remember why you love star wars

All they would have to do is make a cartoon about the old EU and I would be satisfied honestly. But it's not likely sadly. Unfortunatly they are perfectly content with just cherry picking the old EU for the current mediocre canon. I will never forget how much I loved playing Rouge Squadren 3 and Battlefront 2 as a kid and, How excited I was to watch Episode 3 in theatres, and even how excited I would always get when Spike TV played the all (6) the movies. That feeling pretty much stayed with me until TLJ beat it to a bloody pulp. My love for star wars isn't dead it's just not what used to be I hate that.

I would argue as well that Andor out of all the Star Wars show justified itself the most as it didn’t rely too much on needless fan service and expanded the lore in interesting ways.

You don't have to love all of Star Wars, or certain parts of Star Wars, or contemporary Star Wars to be a Star Wars fan, you just have to love Star Wars. I love the Clone Wars, the prequels, and the video games, especially the KotORs. I hope that one day, a piece of Star Wars media will come out that connects with me like those things did. Until then, I'll keep loving Star Wars. Maybe next it'll be Andor for me.

Dude, I'm crying now. Yes I know exactly what changed my life as a little Blerd on my birthday in 1977. Princess and Senator Leia Organa. Nothing and no one can take those memories from me. And while I hope someday someone will give Finn the story he richly deserved, I can always write it my damn self, lol.

I'm loving these videos analysing the state of the Disney-owned franchises - infinitely more interesting than the shows and films themselves under Disney (aside from Andor of course; masterpiece). This video emotionally impacted me greatly, like most of your videos to be honest. That montage was truly something sublime - it's a trait of yours to edit these types of montages and quite frankly it's a staple of your channel which is something no other creator does. You put so much heart and soul into your videos - far more authentic than any other channel on this platform. It is always evident there is a passion and emotional resonance to what you're making, and that down-to-earth approach not only impacts me on a potent level, but for many of your other viewers; I'm certain of that. Simply put, I needed this video, and the Star Wars Community needs you. You're a wonderful man. Thank you Okiro, kudos to you brother, keep up the brilliant work as always!

I fondly remember the early 90s. There was very little Star Wars content other than the original films, then suddenly there was the Zahn trilogy of books, and the X-Wing/TIE Fighter series of games plus Dark Forces. There was so much potential for world building within the Star Wars franchise at that time. For a nerdy teenager like myself, it was alot of fun just imagining where Star Wars could go with its storytelling. Unfortunately now I feel that Star Wars is over saturated with content, alot of which is so badly written, that there's not much room for positive growth anymore.

There is so much about Star Wars I love. It's core memory level. I only wish they would be allowed to innovate again. Stop editing storylines based on "what sells" or "what fans like" and tell an honest story. But I often feel like a minority in the fandom, I try to find bits to love about every Star Wars project I watch or read. Sometimes, it takes a while, but I can always find something, even if it's one moment.

Star wars problem are the sequels. Previosly the world was grand. Every piece of media explored a different part of the world. The universe of star wars had history and you were exited to explore a part of this grand story with any piece of media. Under Disney star wars feels empty. There is no grand story. The universe feels like it is stuck in a time loop. If you defeat the empire than another "empire" suddenly appears. Star wars under Disney stagnates. The best thing about the prequels is that george lucas moved star wars forward. Star wars felt fresh again. That TFA was in box office a successful movie was in some part thanks to the Prequels.

I’ve been gravitating a bit towards Legends since Last Jedi came out. I grew up on the original trilogy and Luke was my favorite character. In Legends he just gets to do more and BE more which is just more fun for me whereas in Sequel Canon he ....doesn’t. So I can either think of ROTJ as The End and everything else as very expensive fanfic or I can try this alternate route. With Mandolrian since I’m a lifelong comics reader it reminds of times when I’ve not been enamored with the direction of Marvel or DC but there’s at least one book with a good creative team that gels with the character I’m buying that one title despite not being invested in anything else in the line. That’s Mandalorian, the one title left in my canon pull-box. Guess my point being this is how I’m trying to keep Star Wars alive for myself.

The best part about your content is you can acknowledge and honor the past while understanding the future of a franchise has to change. Doing that is nearly impossible but content creators / Directors / Writers like you can help shape the next chapters. I know you are still growing but you have influence and wish you luck on contributing to this cherished stories. I know you will get your shot on them. There are no shortage of qualified writer's chomping at the bit to write their own episode, series, movie and be a part of this story but I am not sure I see a way around the Corporate Executives that ultimately get the final say on how a plot line is resolved. Great content as always.

@GreySawyer I must be cold hearted then, because I'm content with letting Star Wars die. I mean I' grew up with the prequels, I need to see the OT in it's entirety. I remember Genndy Taravkosky's Micro series in my early teens, and did enjoy the first season of Dave Filoni's Clone Wars as a young adult after I graduated from high school. And since I can watch that whenever I want, this franchise can go the way of the dinosaurs. But so long as it keeps making money Disney won't let that happen. So since they only care about it's profitability I refuse to care about their spin-offs. Except for Star Wars Visions, because volume 1 was done by Studio Trigger, and I do love me some anime.

I don't think that's Disney's job to be honest. I also think people put too much stock into what Kathleen Kennedy does. To be honest I just see Disney as a platform where they've hired passionate creators to create their own corner in the Star Wars universe. Basically, I don't expect nor need Disney to be passionate, but they've united passionate creators such as Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Tony Gilroy-- which is what is important to me.

The way I see it is this-- Star Wars used to be a little trilogy of movies made by an indie filmmaker. Those films are done and that storyline is complete. Everything after 1983 is just "content" that's a cash grab. So either enjoy that content for what it is, or don't.

As a fan who got into Star Wars through The Force Unleashed and KOTOR, as well as reading about EU post ROTJ Skywalker saga on Wookiepedia, the Expanded Universe timeline has been hardwired into my consciousness so much that it has become the definitive Star Wars continuity for me. I guess this is why I always had a strong cognitive dissonance with not just the Sequel trilogy and the poorly made Kenobi show, but also TCW once I found out about Filoni’s role in messing up two Star Wars timelines in a row and getting away with it because of blind loyalty due to lowered standards under the Disney regime.

All of Star Wars is great All of Star Wars is flawed All of Star Wars is great because it's flawed. Whatever piece of Star Wars content you hate is someone else's favorite part. Whatever piece of Star Wars content you love is hated by someone. As we all chase that feeling that first caused us to be obsessed with this franchise, we all need to remember that what doesn't work for us does work for someone else.

I have always thought the best and worst part of this franchise is its discourse. I hated growing up hearing nothing but prequels bad in tonnes of comment sections and vids, and now history repeats itself with sequels bad. It's fine to not like something but its just so overwhelmingly negative and makes me not want to engage with the fanbase. I love channels like these though, where you can still say there's bad products, yet show there's so much to love with this franchise. Lets explore it and talk about it, bring something new to the table, and that ending was beautifully put, taking the whole franchise and showing the love, the care, the time that's been put into it, and it may not all be great, but that's not the point of Star Wars.

The saddest part of what has happened to the Star Wars legacy is that today's audiences are unable to discern between good writing, storytelling, editing, acting and this crap. I understand that there will always be an audience for bad movies and tv shows, it's how garbage like 'The Rings of Power' manage to get made. Movie and television audiences have been conditioned by a very long string of badly written productions that happen to have the Star Wars trade mark 'attached' to them, because that's all they have in common with the spirit of the original trilogy. That people continue to support this trash has given me an insight into just how far the fan base has eroded. I can't wait to see how they react to the next regurgitation of the untalented 'misdirectors' and 'actorvists' that brought you identity politics, girl bosses and emasculated white men, gender/race swapping and idiotic plot twists. They can call it 'Woke Wars...a New Trope' starring Ru Paul as the cross-dressing Ruke Skydragger/Luke Skywalker, with Bosco in the role of Obosco-Wantsome Knobby/Obi-Wan Kenobi and Lil Wop with his rendition of a vegan Screwcacca/Chewbacca or Screwy for short as they gayly flit about about the galaxy spreading ‘THE MESSAGE’……..and a few STDs. This franchise is completely cooked because of the clown-car of untalented hacks currently employed in Hollywoke, Californication. "Hollywoke Penisport. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious." ~Obosco-Wantsome Knobby

Let Star Wars die, kill it if you have to. Anyway, George Lucas sold us out. Edit : Each generation had ''their'' own Star Wars . Yes, but we all shared in the experience . It was cross generational. But that all changed with TLJ. New Star wars is for this generation only , all the older Characters have been systematically humiliated, symbolically emasculated or killed off , and older fans have been told in no uncertain terms that they are man babies , Star Wars isn't for them , they are not Wellcome here. Like it or not, Star wars was a lie. George Lucas sold the franchise. The franchise was worth what it was because it came with a fan base. So what he sold was the fans. There's your ''New Hope''.
