@@Big_Nugget549 I'm a snare drummer, you have no idea how difficult that was. Playing the same thing for so long is not easy. And the deviation is to be expected, and he was following the conductor once he took over. What the critics are not understanding is the delay that happens when you separate the parts so far. The melody is in the trumpets, who are about 100 feet away from the low brass and conductor, if they are following the conductor the delay as the sound travels to the recorder about 50 feet from the lower level just amplifies the separation. Add echoes, and there you go.

Acimictravels I'm pretty sure the conductor is conducting the tempo off on purpose only for the instruments in the back since they are above a level and back more from the rest of the band. If the conductor was to conduct the tempo the instruments below are playing at, then the instruments at the back would sound off tempo. So pretty much what the conductor did was probably told the instruments on his level to listen to snare for tempo while the conductor himself figures out a place that would make him above tempo but make the instruments in the back above level, sound in tempo with the rest of the band.

At least it is a flashmob and not some stupid internet thing

I used to play in a youth orchestra that would do a movie music themed night to introduce young children to orchestral music once a year. The entire orchestra would dress up for the event and little kids would show up in pokemon onesies with beanbags and popcorn. Every year we started the imperial march without our conductor. As the main theme started he would burst through the back door dressed as darth vader and march menacingly to the podium before conducting the rest of the concert with his lightsaber. Absolutely terrified some of the younger kids - best part of the evening.

Last year, during 8th grade, my band instructor had us play a star wars medley for the release of starwars: the last jedi for our christmas concert. She wore a darth vader costume while we played. And the day after during the weekend, she rented out a theater for us to all watch the new star wars movie. She was my favorite teacher and i will miss her going into 9th grade.

nobody is complaining that they took their sweet time walking slowly over there and pulling out their instruments possibly even oiling the valves and checking for imperfections before tuning, warming up and eventually joining the "flash" mob. the complaint is that the title of the video is misleading. this wasnt a flash mob.

Everyone's annoyed that the title said flash mob and they were slow as hell, understandably prepping to actually perform. I've been in a flash mob, we kinda were all ready within 2 minutes. I suppose it was mostly choir students, but the instruments were ready fast af too
