J.C. L. I prefer the special edition version. I get why you like it, but I prefer this as the wrap up to the original STAR WARS trilogy, one of the greatest trilogies of all time. The other one just seems to capture the epic scale of the entirety of the three films coming to a close than this one does, but to each his own.

@@MessiahEntertainment Yes, at that time they inserted the new music they thought that this was the end of the saga as a whole, and they had just done the prequels, or at least one of them, and wanted to make a connection. But at the same time the new ending with the new music (which does sound like elevator music) suggests that once Death Star II is blown up and the Emperor is dead this will be the end of the Empire once and for all, we get the Republic back etc. But it's a little naive to think that what is after all just a localized battle can achieve that; there was still the reqt of the power structure of the Empire in place and they had not by far destroyed the entire imperial fleet and all that weaponry that the Empire still had. This is why I prefer the old ending with the old music. That's the way I first saw it in the cinema back then, and hard to believe that the present generation of viewers, those born around 1980 or after, probably do not even know it was there.

I grew up with the 1995 VHS release of the entire Original Trilogy, and I have really fond memories of watching the hoth scenes from TESB on snow days back in elementary school. I was also born in 2003, so I'm very grateful to have grown up with the original cuts of these films when a lot of people my age probably didn't have that luxury.

Makes sense, and it's much more meaningful see Anakin's young image because it was how he looked before his fall to the dark side. On your logic dosen't make sense that the old Anakin don't have the scars and burns appearing.

A ghost itself doesn't make any sense, so how he would not have the damage in his body, he died with that. Now with his young image, it's exactly the man he was before his fall, it's objectively a more coherent and rounder conclusion in the saga.

Old Anakin was part of the dark side for a good time, man. Darth Vader was him, the young one was for much more time part of the light side, also, we never see Obi Wan without his torso, he simply goes to nothing, and Qui Gon appears without his shirt? In the logic that Anakin would appear as his young image, every force ghost would have the power to materialize as they wish, what would explain how sometimes they simply don't appear with an image, just their voice, and Anakin as his young look, much more meaningful to what he once was.
