Ah, this is amazing! My final placement is in year 1, and frankly, I’m terrified haha. My two placements were in year 4, so it feels quite a big shift moving down to year 1.

My favourite behaviour management strategy is positive enforcement. Or asking children to choose a song what they like who is doing a good sitting or who who is doing a good listening and so on... absolutely love your videos. Keep doing great work. Very useful tips.

I've found myself back on this video for a second time because I wanted to find the part where you talk about labelling children as the "bad" boy and how they might try to live up to it. I'm sending this as a message to a friend who is struggling with a specific child at the moment. I think it's such a useful message to educators to separate poor decisions to the actual "child" Thanks again!

Yes it definately opens up opportunities for parents to access and view their child's progress even when they can't neccesarily get a meeting with the teacher due to their working hours etc. Thanks for watching the video!

Thanks for sharing this! You have super ideas and I enjoyed watching and learning. Since your video was made, we’ve had the Data Protection Act 2018 here in the UK and many local authorities have banned the use of Class Dojo due to this. I wonder if there’s an alternative? Also at no. 25, I’d like to share that I’ve learned (after many years of teaching) that giving a sad face can be just as damning as calling someone a bad boy and I’d rather deny the child a happy face than issue a sad one. It’s too permanent there on their behaviour chart, if you see what I mean! Thanks

I started using class Dojo this year and it was really great! You mentioned negative points. Do you take points from students for bad behavior?
@StarbuckEducation
@StarbuckEducation 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, I don't take away points for bad behaviour but on class dojo I believe it does a seperate counter next to the positive points. Some teachers use the negative points as their classes respond well to this and can keep a track of negative behaviour patterns e.g. repeated physical incidents etc. I usually use reflective questioning and a time out approach over collecting negative points, how about yourself? I know from your videos you do alot of narrating which is a great technique!
