Corey: "I don't have a beast token!" A few minutes earlier: Corey: "Can you pass me that token? It was a bodybag!" Gets handed a beast token. Super fun episode to watch and glad Nissa didn't just stomp all over my Prerelease events but is in fact, Just That Good.

Definitely become more noticeable lately, but if you aren’t already, I think it might be time to have a conversation about the balance of the decks and maybe choosing to omit certain cards that might be unfun to play against or that might hose certain decks more than others.

@@richardbutobar3920 you’re very right. The way that I choose to experience commander is very different from the way I choose to play competitive formats. The last thing I want is for my play group and I to get together once or twice a month, only for one player to feel completely hosed out of their time. It could be as simple as choosing to play a Bojuka Bog or Scavenging Grounds instead of a Rest in Peace against a player who enjoys graveyard strategies. You still accomplish the goal without completely locking them out of the game. I think many older episodes of CMDR VS did such a great job at showing this balance, where each player is the threat, gets to do their thing, is dealt with, and everyone appears to be satisfied with the game.

@@Goodthrust69 these planeswalkers are not legal commanders. Long time fans of the show will know that “it’s their show, and they can do what they want.” Planeswalkers as commanders has been something they’ve done for a long time and it’s generally a fun time! My comment was focused on the overall power level of the decks and how well they have matched up against each other lately.

After 3-4 years of not really playing much magic, I’ve finally gotten back into the swing of it, and this is my first commander VS in about as long. I’m saddened to not only hear the reason that Justin left, but also more broadly to hear what’s happened with SCG coverage since then, however I’m glad Commander VS lives on. Looking forward to being part of this community again! edit: Heck, I still remember the Dave McDarby vs Danny West and BBD vs CVM days. Wow, it’s come a long way

Wouldn't Black Sun's Twilight resolve at 38:37-ish? It says up to one target on the front. So even if Cory targets nothing the second clause would still reanimate the creature so long as X is 5 or greater right? Am I missing something?

Targeting spells and abilities check the legality of their targets twice; once as you put them on the stack, and again just before they resolve. If all their targets have become illegal at the time of the second check, it doesn't resolve at all. If some, but not all, of its targets become illegal before the second check, the spell or ability resolves but does not affect or obtain information about those illegal targets. I think that's how it works?

@@BigDaddyDirtHog I'm not entirely sure what happened behind closed doors.... but I rememeber his dad was sick (and perhaps died) and in the process used a lot of his time off to help his family. Im only guessing but he might have wanted more time, star city games denied, and he quit/was let go.

Spawnsire makes tokens when creatures die, not on ETB. (Corey noticed this and commented below. Thumbs up for the ownership.) Ashaya does not say other. Second week in a row somebody warns Corey not to take a bad line, then he does it, and people remind him about why the line is bad and he shouldn't have done it, and Corey asks for a take back. I have no problem with take backs if something isn't obvious, but not for somebody who's being paid to be here. I'm just OK with it once in a while for professionals. For the love of all that is good in this world, get rid of that music. It makes it harder to hear and so far you've gotten overwhelmingly negative feedback on it. Loved watching Jeremy smash face after so long in last.

Agreed. Corey getting to change his mind after declaring three bad attacks(two this week, one last week) puts an awful taste in the mouth. While I would agree that despite them playing for seasonal championships the overall level of gamesmanship definitely falls into the fun and friendly side, this tolerance for complete lack of awareness from a very experienced Magic player is very off putting. If anything, they should be explaining the poor decisions, but then forcing him to live with his original choice. I could almost look past the Nissa attack, but attacking into Fynn when his deathtouch was stated multiple times should have stuck. Not to mention he was running reanimation so it's not as if the loss of Sheoldred really would have been permanent.

Ichormoon Gauntlet triggered from his instant, putting a loyalty counter unto Jace before damage, so went up to 6 before the five damage.

Corey should have gotten the Creature from the Graveyard, as Black Sun'S Twilight says "Up to one target creature gets -x/-x" not requiring a target, not like it really mattered

Its not working this way. You dont need to choose target to cast it, but if it have target and this target become illegal - spell fizzles. If Corey choose to not target any creature than yes he should have gotten the creature

This channel continues to suffer from power level disparities quite often. Allowing someone to run Nissa is quite unfair compared to Jace. She gets to blow up ramp on one of her modes, letting mono green pull ahead even farther than blue and black. Please have more serious power level discussions guys. This episode was very unfun to watch.
