I like how even after eight years the chicken sound effects have not changed

After 11 years, and now KZfaq has just recommended it to me

8 years ago, this man had a dream. He worked day and night alone doing everything from the coding to the music production to creating pixel art. He didn't know if it was gonna be a success or a failure, that didn't matter because he was passionate about his dream and if it could make at least a single player happy then it's a job well done. How time flies its 2020 now and Strardew Valley is one of the most successful games out there. He had achieved more than he thought he could. He, Eric Barone truly is an inspiration.

I have to admit those early character sprites were kinda adorable.

Damn, this version looks a lot like Harvest Moon for SNES. Nobody by the time thought that this game would become the juggernaut that it is today. Congratulations, Eric! You deserve every fan you have.

Comparing this trailer vs Release to his latest trailer of haunted Chocolatier is insane. If he progressed Stardew as much as he did I can only imagine to level of detail, polish and new mechanics he may bring with his latest Title. Best indy Dev out there

The graphics have come a long way so far, but it's amazing to see just how many familiar features the game already had in such a much earlier version of development. The whole thing is simply amazing. I find the process of creation of a game as fascinating as the act of actually playing the game. :)

It's cool to see how the bones of the game were there and also the changes. Like giving the slimes faces really helped make them more interesting.

I have no idea why this video got recommended to me in 2024, but it was fun to see all the similarities and differences between today's 1.6 version and the old trailer. Also it's kinda mindblowing that there was already so much done in 2012, it feels like the game came out only a year or two ago

I remember playing this the week it came out, absolutely incredible. I have hundreds of hours on it, and I just played it earlier today. Truly my favorite game ever.

I love how the water looked here, on your Farm! for the rest: the artstyle improved so so much... I cant believe its made by just one person and I everytime I play the game I realise how much thought, effort and refining must have gone into every little part of the game. ConcernedApe, you're awesome. Even though I want to throw my laptop out of the window after fishing every now and then, I still think the game is amazing! much love from a poor student that hardly ever buys a game for herself.

So unbelievably nostalgic. I know I never played this version but it still takes me back to when I first played stardew back in 2016. I was a senior in high school and I would come home every day and play stardew valley instead of doing my homework. I was addicted to that game for so long and pretty much used it as an escape from the stresses of transitioning into adult life. I’m 26 now and I still pick it back up every now and then when I have the time!

This is my favorite game ever! I came home to help my mom with her little organic farm because she got cancer. I was a little upset giving up my job and life in Santa Monica but she needed my help. It has been 5 years she has had a full recovery💖🎉🎊 and I am still here working on our family farm. My mom is a bit older so she still needs help, besides I have made so many friends here and I love working outside and at the farmers markets with my mom and partner😊. Thank you so much for creating Stardew valley grapeape! It really warms my heart because even though my story is a bit different it makes me think of home❤. I wish I could share pictures because it has turned into heaven on earth for us and we had our first baby goats from the mamas we raised!! They are super cute!!

I know concerned Ape will most likly never see this but I just wanted to say.....Don't be scared of your success, I know right now everyone keeps talking about how great haunted chocolatier will be and I hope you are not scared of not being able to live up to the expectations, But what you need to know is you will never be able to meet the expectations of everyone someone will find something wrong with chocolatier, the best thing you can do is try your best and know you did all you could to make something you are proud of. Anyway just some words from some random guy people have told me I overthink stuff and most likely I am but I wanted to say this just in case it could be something on your mind. I have vague memories of seeing something about it while it was in beta. (I think the fishing) But, at the time I didn't really think it would be a game I'd enjoy. Only re-found out about it recently and it's only today while I was playing that I realised that it was the same game I saw all that time ago. It really has come a long way:)

it is so awesome to see the roots. i love this game. you did something i assumed no one is going to do: a game where i feel home! and i care about the characters, a thing that final fantasy 7 (back in the days) did right the last time. stardew valley feels really really right. i spent 70h so far into the game, and every time i think " now there is nothing more", there IS more

11 years later and this game still has all the love and affection you feel in this trailer. Stardew Valley will go down as one of the greatest games of all time.

Damn, what a progress. This looks like some free mobile clone of today's Stardew Valley. ConcernedApe deserves all the respect for pursuing his dream and doing such a great game.

I first encountered Stardew Valley in 2018. I saw a lone PS4 copy at Walmart for $20 on the discount shelf. Told myself it looks fun but maybe I'll wait and watch some gameplay footage later. Totally forgot to do it and then a couple months later my son started telling me about his friends at school playing it and told me about some of the things in the game that he had heard about and it peaked my interest. I immediately went to Walmart and bought that copy which was luckily still there and it now sits in my top five games of all time.

You gave me so much peace, joy and happiness with this game. I'm so excited for haunted chocolatier. Please keep up your amazing work!

Thank you for creating the first video game I ever played. I couldn’t afford game consoles as a kid and missed out on a lot of the Nintendo and PS greatness. I never thought a simple computer game my Grandma bought for me would evolve so much and stay my favorite for so long.

You'r creation like this one will one day be seen by others. Always believe and be consistent about it. I too have a dream of creating a story and one day be like j.k Rowling and j.r.r Tolkien and even George Lucas. Dream, believe, succeed you're expectations and goals. My dream is to make my fantasy story into a game. I promise to be like Eric and have it unique and inspire others. Patience is the key to a successful story.
