When I first heard this stuff I was like "okay so it's regular synthwave but with more beeps and boops and samples from Russian space missions okay" then I found out that groups like Alliance were making killer synth tracks way back when there still WAS a USSR. This is educational!

Can't help leaving a message... I was born in the early 80s in China. Although I don't have a clear memory of CCCP, but believe it or not I grew up watching the cartoon "Ну, погоди!", along with other soviet union literatures. This music brings me back to the future of my childhood. BTW, the arkwork of this album is almost identical to which was on the cover of one of the homework booklets back in my primary school time.

I was born in Soviet Union. I heared this sounds in childhood on the radio and vinyl disks. Without modern pseudo-retro samples. In early 2000`s russian techno musicants PPK takes samples from Soviet space melodies and producted it to club-traks. It was funny, but none can dreaming about whole style of music like that.

Прости нас, Юра, мы все просрали. Даже электронику. А я помню когда где то в эфире, из какого нибудь репродуктора изредка можно было услышать такую музыку. А потом ее не стало. А потом пришел шансон и позже я узнал что многие электронщики зарождавшегося в конце 80х синтепопа и прочих этих жанров с голодухи в 90х пошли делать минуса в шансон. Один из первых культурных шоков. Я не мог понять почему они перестали делать нормальную музыку.

This takes me to a world I've only ever been able to visit through old media. But aesthetically it appeals to that same desire for me. It is that early era where sci-fi and strange films, shows, cultures could find homes. Many of the longest-standing communities in sci-fi/fantasy have their roots in this era. I guess what I'm trying to say is this mix makes me feel connected to my weirdo ancestors who pushed boundaries before me. Thanks for the post and my newfound interest in the genre.
