"Raise The Titanic"? It would have been cheaper to drain the Atlantic! Ray Milland - a much underrated actor I always feel. 👍 I think this movie would have benfitted from the addition of Clu Gulager.

In 1983 we still hadn't found the wreck of the Titanic. Though some people had testified that it broke in half, the official records discounted that, and many still though she could be raised. Clive Cussler wrote an entire novel about it. Then somebody found the wreck and verified that it was in two pieces, and everyone who had ideas sighed and said "Oh well".

I saw this movie when it first aired as a kid in the 80s. Its funny because I was just thinking about this movie earlier in the week, and now here you are, talking about it. You're right, it was a dumb movie based on a dumb premise but I enjoyed it anyway. My other favorite dumb but enjoyable TV movies from the 80s include "The Gladiator" and "The Night the Bridge Fell Down."
