In one episode, they fired hellfire rockets through the Stargate to clear several gun positions in front of a gate. They went through the gate, gained hight, returned to the gate and struck the passions from above
@sam236964 ай бұрын
Halo does this really well. Their spaceships are incredibly inferior to covenant technology, no shielding, missiles that are pointless against shields. But they have MAC cannons firing depleted uranium slugs at 10% lightspeed. They designed it for long distance, long time to impact, fire and leave style space combat. But it just so happens to slice clean through covenant shielding and hulls at close range. Then on the ground the Covenant have shields, plasma weapons, and 1000 to 1 troop numbers. But they have basically zero ground doctrine, no training beyond one on one close combat so they charge human positions in clumps of troops. Meanwhile humanity has 500 years of urban combat doctrine under their belts.

I like how every SG unit seems to use different camo patterns throughout the show. It'd be so amazing if they could've fit armor through the Gate. Imagine the look on those Jaffa when a Bradley appears from the event horizon.
@darthrevan49332 жыл бұрын
I think someone checked and you can just squeeze an Abrams through
@randomlyentertaining82872 жыл бұрын
It's not so much the problem of getting the armor through the gate. The Bradley is only 12 feet wide and 10 feet tall. The M1 Abrams isn't any bigger (it's actually 2 feet shorter lol). Stargates are 22 feet in diameter, thus leaving even enough room for a column of men to march on either side of the vehicle through the gate Problem is the US put the Stargate underground in a bunker. If they moved to above ground or even just turned the gate around (I've forgotten whether you can walk through a gate from both directions) and installed a lift that went to the surface and was capable of holding the weight of a Abrams or Bradley, they could've made it fit. I think they didn't do so because the SG teams are supposed to basically be light infantry. Vehicles usually would just weigh them down. As for storytelling reason, I think it was to make things more interesting and the teams more vulnerable. A lot of the problems encountered by the SG teams would've never of happened had they rolled through the gate on an Abrams XD
@chrisbingley2 жыл бұрын
@@randomlyentertaining8287 The M1 Abrams used 1st generation (Chobham) composite armour. One of the materials used in older composite armours was ceramic plates. Thats why he started to make his clones and reach out for a hidden base on earth in seaosn 9. I grew up watch sg1 and farscape every night/week depending on channel or when it was run mostly fri. I loved the sg team firefights but always hated the zat 1 shot stuns a while, 2 shots kill, 3 shots vaporizes most of the time. They hit a crate of enemy munitions 3 times it vanishes get bogged down in a firefight and hit the opponent cover dozens of times b4 they stick their head out get hit their chest, but the cover remains that it plot armor for ya. Then everytime they fight with a zat they only stun the enemy, they never 2 shot anyone to keep the jaffa down, they recover faster than humans with their baby gut snake. They gonna rejoin hunting the team in short amount of time. And they leave the bodies where they drop to show the enemy a trail right to u instead of i dont know 3 shots so they gotta guess where u went/ or use sensors. Jaffa dont usually get up from p90 bursts so y r zats 1 shots ? There r occasional 2 shots only when multiple sgc happen to hit same targets😮
@katumus12 күн бұрын
The Zat gun was too powerful plot armor weapon. It was many times annoying that it wasn't as effective on first shot for SG-1 in many cases, and then same for enemies. It really brought dilemmas for the writers how to try to get around it creatively, without being too obvious. Like, having very limited charge, or something could have worked. So you don't want to waste the charge for shooting something like a cover.
@andrewjones433212 күн бұрын
@@katumus its true but like I said half of sg1 is military, Carter was a bit ify but as I recall in her early episodes off world she had and used military training. See enemy, aim at enemy, fire and kill enemy. Same with Jack he was black ops military no hesitation to kill unless it was kids as enemies. Teal'c yes I can see him wanting to only stun his jaffa brothers so they might have freedom later. And then whole team calming down for same reason but like early on there was no rebellion yet all jaffa served the enemy most were zealots with no doubts about their gods. Yet we c long firefights where both sides try to zat each other with earth winning most of them eventually. But they leave the enemy stunned for prob a few min with jaffa advanced healing to fight later. Maybe that's y u c so few jaffa in credits it's like the 1st movie to abidos theres only 20 jaffa on any ship and they keep fighting the same ones they only stun lol cause they keep waking up then catching up after jaffa team 2 or 3 gets dropped to cycle again. But really a military team should b 3 shot any jaffa they fight to stop that at least b4 the jaffa openly rebel then it makes sense to only stun maybe allies who could b undercover. And watever cover either side used was unaffected. Like u said trying to eliminate the op part of it could b a charge or do like mass effect 1 or 2 with infinite shot but adding cooldowns if overused or even make them swap charges out. But they could also do naquida as resistant to it since it was key for go'auld tech so cover would not vanish after being shot, ship wouldnt suddenly lose the wall into space after shootouts. Even have jaffa take multi shots if the have the armor on and say it had the metal in it. Then they can add it to SG tactical vests as inserts for big key areas to survive a few zats. It's funny the replicators a basic lightening shot weapon should work on were immune to it from the first shot from a zat at them. I think it was Teal'c that tried and he was super confused he just started going with zat over staff at the time and it does nothing to the little buggers. So he ends up going Rambo with big guns afterwards alot.
