The "Old Bridge" ("Stari Most" in the local language) is the landmark of the city of Mostar, located in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The bridge, completed in 1566 with a span of almost 29 and a height of 19 meters over the Neretva River, became world famous when it was destroyed in the Yugoslavian Civil War in November 1993.
The bridge, which has long been perceived not only as an outstanding structure but also as a symbol due to its connection between the predominantly Catholic western part and the more Muslim eastern part of the city, has become even more so after its reconstruction 1995-2004.
