WARNING: 'Twisted' contains adult language.
From the creators of 'A Very Potter Musical' and 'Holy Musical B@man!', comes 'Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier.' Hop on your flying carpet, because this musical parody retells the classic tale of Aladdin... from the villain's point of view! Long ago in a Magic Kingdom, one misunderstood Royal Vizier will go on a quest to save his city from its bumbling sultan, an invading prince, and the most notorious thief to ever live! With the help of the Kingdom's free-spirited, teenage Princess, the Vizier must find a magical lamp containing a wish-granting Djinn (who's really funny, by the way) and defeat the city's most-wanted criminal... Aladdin! This musical adventure celebrates and lovingly pokes fun at everyone's favorite series of hand-drawn, animated films.
'Twisted' features story & script by Matt Lang, Nick Lang, and Eric Kahn Gale. With music by A.J. Holmes and lyrics by Kaley McMahon. It is directed by Brian Holden.

It's not that no one will care, it's that theaters full of people wouldn't pay hundreds of dollars a seat for months straight if people knew the shows would eventually be online. (This is not my viewpoint, but the supposed viewpoint of those involved with Broadway and Off Broadway productions... or plays in general in many cases).

@@dangreen3868 Starkid tickets aren't hundreds of dollars per seat. And I should have clarified... that is the theaters'/production companies' reasoning I was stating (not that they don't think people would care, but they don't think they'd sell as many tickets at such high prices if they put their shows up for viewing regularly). There is also the fact that when it comes to putting plays up in traditional media, the rules regarding profit/pay and other factors are different, and makes it more complicated. But... several musicals (Newsies, Shrek, and Legally Blonde being three big ones) have done it in recent years, and hopefully a trend will form where more Broadway and Off Broadway productions will start showing their plays, at least after they're over.

I just realized that the disney “villains” singing in “Twisted” were not randomly chosen. They each represent one of jafar’s motivations and show him that you can’t always have what you want without hurting other people. Ursula represents his desire to be respected by the people and to be a fair ruler. Scar represents his desire for equality between people from all backgrounds. Gaston represents his love for his wife and his desire to save her. Maleficent represents his desire to fit in amongst the people and the court. Captain hook represents his frustration caused by the Princess’ lack of responsibility. Huge props to the people that wrote this musical. This level of depth is just incredible(unless i’m over-interpreting).

1:14:06 Everyone's talking about the tigerfucker joke (rightfully so, its hysterical) but honesty this whole musical number is underrated. Its so fucking funny, but it also like.. unironically slaps. the way he sings "let them laugh, thats just fine, but the last laugh will be mine" is so satisfying to me, and near the end where theyre all singing "they'll remember achmeeeeed" is literally SO GOOD. like unironically, even without the jokes. also achmed is just generally the funniest character ever devised, the way the actor plays him is absolutely hilarious, and even though he's kind of an annoying asshole this song somehow makes him (and his guards) really endearing. overall extremely underrated. (also the delivery of "blood. on my ass.CHEEKS. tell me j a f ar . how the ~fuck~ did that get ~t he r e~ " makes me lose my shit every time)

I'm currently revisiting these Starkid musicals and I really have to say that "Twisted" is one of their best musicals they ever did. It's like they managed to take a Disney movie and turn it into a story about a man who not only goes through grief but does everything he can to help the kingdom and the Princess. Plus there's so much to like about it such as the role reversal on both Ja'far and Aladdin is so damn clever, the script is just funny and touching at the same time, the music is brings tears to my eyes and even the character development is great too. I think of all the musicals Starkid has done, this one is my favorite.

The implications of jafar not escaping after being accused of being a sorcerer are horrifying. How long before the sultan suspected the princess of being a demon spawn because she was born of the wife of a demon, regardless of fatherhood, after she spirals under Aladdin's influence. It would definitely question her right to the throne. Really makes the next song hit that much harder.

Having the chance to perform as Achmed in a university production of this show is my greatest accomplishment in life and so many lines in the finale stand out to me more now that I've bonded with so many people in the cast. I just realized that, as Jafar is singing about wanting to see his wife again in the first act's climax song, he sings the line "[We'll] share an itty bitty living space," which is a reference to the genie in the original when he's talking about his lamp. I didn't need your foreshadowing slapping me in the face after my third run through, damn it.

One of my favourite details is that in "Dream a little harder" when the towns people are singing all the ways Jafar could meet his end, they reference the ways the villains that appear in "Twisted met their ends Skewed by a ship = Ursula Eaten by Hyenas = Scar Plummet to their death from a castle = Gaston The only villains death that is mentioned but they don't appear in "Twisted" is "hanged in tangled jungle vines" which it obviously references Clayton, who is commonly said to have one of the most brutal and violent deaths in any disney film The attention to detail in this musical is insane
