Honestly Homelander is the perfect villain in most of superhero fiction to date. He is a literal walking greek tragedy, suffering countless strife after strife and it pains me as a viewer to see that if he were raised the same way Ryan was at the beginning (or at least in a good home and not some lab) he would’ve actually had a good heart. Voughts mistake was engineering an unending desire for love, something that no man or woman can live without, and subsequently it causes his descent to insanity.

Yeah. His biggest mistake was killing Stillwell. Homelander works best when he's kept under check, it seems he's able to think more clearly when he has to achieve someone else's motives rather than his own. When he's left to his own devices he becomes his own downfall.

That's the whole premise, lol. Introducing you to 'superheroes' who save the day, until you get closer and see what they're all about. I was really shocked as a superhero genre fan, to see someone with powers act this way, with almost no regard to human life and others. That's what makes this show so highly rated. I never thought it would work, actually.. Because we usually just like the good guys.. But in today's world, we learn to appreciate the villains, too.
