Hi guys, thanks! Glad you found it helpful. Unfortunately we don't have any knowledge about cowfish products so we cannot recommend them as good or bad.

A very informative video regarding Starlink . We are not full time travellers but do a lot of travels through the year . We are travelling from Perth(home town) to Melbourne ( been on the road nearly 4 weeks) to change over our Retreat made all electric prototype caravan for a new ERV from Retreat and ordered Starlink just after we left home , picking it up from friends in Bachus Marsh next week . Look forward to setting it up and as we need the sun for our power , usually trees wont be problem . Thanks again for the informative video .

Nice video guys; very helpful. We’re already kitted up with your Telco antenna / mast / modem setup - 6 months ago and decision time for our van (Telco or Starlink) was to go with the antenna as we felt Starlink was still a bit new and coverage limited. But that was then and this is now so Starlink (lasers etc) is now looking a much better option. The only things I didn’t like were the long unwieldy cable (we went to a lot of trouble to run all our MIMO cabling through the van) and the huge (by comparison) SL modem but the ‘sit it in the hatch’ idea is brilliant! I was thinking it would need to be inside the van to work effectively - obviously not 😊. We already have the flat out hoses so need no convincing there re cable storage. If you will excuse the pun, flat-out the best Starlink video on KZfaq!

Awww I love hearing all of this in your comment! Thank you so much for taking the time to send all of that! We appreciate it and really does make our day getting this feedback! Definitely had to do some working around to make sure everything was going to work effectively with the modem and cable etc but we got there and it is a simple and effective setup and pack up each time. 😁 Glad you love flat out like we do too! Thanks again!

Daniel!! Amazing video and very detailed. Thankyou for sharing you knowledge, thoughts and experiences. So I have been looking for a solution to store the cable because its a pain to wrap up each time and it always kinks and bends. I'll look at the reel you suggested now.

You're welcome, thank you 😁 oh gosh, yes, the cable is so easily damaged with kinks and bends (we had to replace ours due to it, which is what made us search for a solution), best get onto it soon 🤣

We have just started our journey and had no idea about obstacles and learned this the hard way after two very painful weeks of terrible internet due to some trees. We had to learn to request sites with minimal trees so I can continue to work from the caravan. I love the cord system. I get why its so long BUT its so messy to deal with. Thanks for that!
@OverlandExposure
@OverlandExposure Жыл бұрын
Yes, unfortunately some people seem to think that just because THEY can have massive dropouts and still get Netflix to work, that trees are fine, and they post such information to Facebook groups etc. It's the main reason we still keep our Nighthawk with a Telstra data plan. You can't really solely rely on Starlink as your only internet plan for this reason

Great video and well presented. But Elon Musk was not the first to use LEO systems, and it has been possible and in use for a long time. Iridium (developed by Motorola) has been in service since 1993, and the International Space Station is actually a LEO system as examples. However, Space X has now made it commercially viable. The main problem at present is that we only have 2 Points Of Presence (how Starlink accesses all other Telecommunication systems) in Australia both being in Sydney, which means a longer ping time for most of Aussie....hopefully some of the upgrades in the future will include more POP's. PS - sorry for the correction but I am a long time Telecommunications technician working most of my life in rural and remote areas of Aussie.

Hey guys. Great video. Love your stuff it’s very informative and honest. So just confirming, this is your only method of internet now? You’ve gone away from the 4G antenna? Thanks 👍🏼
@OverlandExposure
@OverlandExposure Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much guys. appreciate it! No, we actually still carry our mast, antenna and nighthawk. We use the nighthawk on Telstra about 40% of the time actually, then put the mast up maybe 2% of that and the rest is starlink. We just lowered our plan on the nighthawk so it costs less. I hope that makes sense, trees are so annoying for starlink for what we need to do on the net so we still definitely need our 4G.

Hi Thomas, if you can afford starlink then that is definitely to way to go but keep in mind dropouts in tree areas etc. If Starlink is out of budget, then the Overland Exposure Internet kit is next best. 😁 Hope that helps.

So wouldn’t the flat out spool created electromagnetic interference as it’s DC in a coil. I would have thought the cable needs to be packed in a figure 8
