Enjoyed the movie, and there is some violence in the scenes. However, there is a storyline, and several characters the acting talents are good. The leading character, Jack. He's the one with the persecution complex, behavioral issues more than a criminal. It's an interesting movie. The ending scenes are dramatic but I wont spoil it for anyone.

Unfortunately I've had the displeasure of spending a few years in and out of the English prison system as a younger man. I think this film gives a mostly accurate view of our prisons. It's small bits they get wrong, for example, In this scene, if this was a real HMP gym they wouldn't let you do boxing drills let alone have a punch bag hanging there. People think the reason is they don't want you learning to fight but really it's because it could cause an unnecessary fight, imagine if the bloke throwing the punches mistimed a swing and hits the pad-man or someone walking past. It seems like a small thing for me to pick out but tiny things like that takes me out of the film. Even though all the action at the end is totally unrealistic I can give it a pass due to it being there to move the story along. One other thing that isn't realistic is the lack of cameras on the wing and exercise yard, but again it was for the sake of the narrative. The vast majority of fights, attacks and general violence is done in cells, if someone got sliced on the landing the screws would look at the camera footage and charge the perpetrator even if the victim didn't want to press charges. But it gets more wright than other films and TV programs.

It's a bit late, but: as far as I know it's a term used when the person in lockup at a detention centre reaches the age of adulthood and specialists and psychologists determine that she/he is not ready to rejoin the society; while because of the age, she/he is relocated to a penitentiary intitute for adults. So she/he is starred up to the mature badass DOC people.
