Still one of the most INSANE matches I have ever seen in all the years I have watched Stars & Strikes, from when I was a kid up to now when it comes to posting and seeing everything on KZfaq. Dan Murphy really did make some great key points after the 2nd string happened though with how strange the game of Candlepin bowling can be for certain bowlers after posting a VERY big score. There's no question that defense is basically non existent in this sport, and this telecast proves just that. And as great as it was to see Tom's flurry of strikes in that string including actually being two pins off from a SIX bagger (with the 9 pin drop in the 4th frame and then the crazy 9 pin drop in the 9th frame), you gotta give MAJOR props to John Plante for being able to cope with it and produce an incredible run of his own to take this match. I think Tom came the closest to a five-bagger in televised candlepin bowling history.

Man, this sport is brutal.

First time I've ever seen this match--- holy crap. Tom threw 9 balls in the first 3 boxes of the 2nd string, and TEN in the final 6 boxes. That is as dialed in as I've ever seen anyone under the lights. If that wobbling head pin goes, we're talking about the only 5-bagger in TV history and a string over 200 (204 if my calculations are correct). John deserves a ton of credit for staying composed in that 3rd string and keeping the pressure on Tom. A lot of bowlers would have wilted in that spot.

One of the most well known meltdowns in Candlepin Bowling history as Tom Morgan had a 191 in the second string and a commanding lead heading into the third string, but then struggled to get a mark in the third string lead to John Plante being the winner. Morgan didn't even get a single mark in the third string. Now we know why consistency is important for Candlepin Bowlers, and John Plante proved it in this episode.
