To be fair, Starscream was at that point so desperate to survive he might have very well actually joined the autobots (of course temporarily until he saw an opportunity to become leader of the decepticons). Starscream only wants one thing and that is security and stability in his life, which is why in season 3 he panics when Shockwave returns and basically threatens his purpose within the decepticon cause. And useless decepticons get discarded by megatron after all. This was the perfect opportunity for the autobots to have Starscream join them and get a shitload of decepticon intel (Starscream would sell out his "mother" if it gave him a benefit). OF course they blew it...

Nah, nobody deserves abuse. Punishment, yes, but not abuse ending up as a trauma

His wheels spun there as well as when he was running away in an attempt to 'dispose' it. I believe it's in Season 2 : Episode 14 : Triage.

That's a good point! As well as showing a form of status. Starscream lowers his wings sometimes when Megatron yells at him, possibly to show that he is smaller and not trying to cause any more anger as Screamer is not the one in charge.

I like to think starscream’s wings are like bunny ears and sometimes he lowers them because he’s scared or intimidated

I think it was, at least to a degree. He'd lost nearly everything, even been nearly executed recently. I think he was genuinely afraid for his life with the Decepticons, and frustrated how his power was becoming less and less, with Megs back and Airachnid there. His face managed to look really genuine too, but at the same time i definitely can't rule out the possibility of him using this as a opportunity to impress Megatron* or whatever. (though, he doesn' like megatron at all in this point of time. it's only after he's alone and struggling to survive, then he learns that megatron is the closest thing he has to a safespace, and begins truly caring about appeasing him and serving him.) edit *i mean like, as a spy for the Decepticons. "impress megatron" as in, pretend to join the Autobots then after he has something important (relics, intel, locations, etc) return to the Decepticons))

I believe that he was serious about becoming an autobot. And I think that he felt like he'd ruined his chances because he spilled the beans about killing Cliffjumper and Arcee tried to kill him for it. There was possibly the fear that he would experience the autobots' wrath. And many may find this hard to believe, but I also believe that he was trying to make Cliffjumper's murder up to her, because he never tried to kill her after that even when it would have been to his advantage.

Starscream's haminess means his corporal language is very engaging. Unsurprisingly, Starscream has relatively very little instances of "dull surprise" compared to other transformers because his facial and body expressions no matter the continuity are notably very stretched and developed. Combine that with the fact this Starscream is constantly pushed around by others, heck including his lowering his wings, and you have a recipe for an oddly cute Starscream.

Even his optics change depending on his situation and emvironment. I noticed after he left the Cons in "Partners," that the red of his optics are so big you can't see the empty space anymore. I like to consider it either cofmort and confidence in his current position, or a need to be aware of all surroundings. They're practically dilated in the first season whenever he's anywhere near the Cons or The Nemesis itself. They sorta hit a "medium uwu-ness" in subsequent signs of stress; they never reach the same size as they were pre-Partners.

Man, I didn’t even know what transformers was- but I absolutely love pathetic characters to death. _(think Usopp, I love that guy… to death)_ So Starscream instantly became my fav, and while doing so got me into transformers! :D

The problem is that RiD Starscream is supposedly TFP Starscream but that design doesn't fit him at all. The TFP Starscream design was perfect for that variation of Starscream, as he was very much his own Starscream.

@@BasedVegeta I disagree. Weak was the goal for TFP Starscream. •He's supposed to look like less of a threat than Megatron. •His hunched back and shoulders makes him look smaller. Only when he feels confident does he allow himself to look a tiny bit larger by lifting his wings and straightening his posture. Even then, he almost always returns to a slouch once Megatron is back in the picture. •A Cybertronian that turns into a jet resembling an agile and light F-16 is smaller and lighter and means that Star doesn't make a lot of noise when he walks, unlike Megatron or even Optimus, Wheeljack, Bulkhead, or Ratchet. This adds to his less threatening look as well as makes it obvious that he was once a fast and agile air commander. He could run quietly and transform with little alarm. Someone bulky like Megatron couldn't pull agility off like Star. F-16 fighter jets aren't that big anyway so Starscream isn't made up of much. •It would be far less believable that a bulky mech would get beat up _all the time_ by a mech not much bulkier than himself. TFP Starscream is far easier to throw around and a more believable punching bag. •The wings and eyebrows, are always emoting because that adds Star's opportunist nature. He's constantly assessing the people he's around and trying to decide how he should look and act to preserve himself (although his arrogance often gets in his way). For all intents and purposes, a weak looking Starscream is the absolute best for TFP Starscream's arc (and perhaps any other TF incarnation that wishes to pull of a similar arc).
