How SpaceX is bringing in global interest
I had the pleasure of interviewing my number 1 fan in Japan!
We talk about SpaceX, Starship, X usage in Japan, and why she thinks there is a declining birthrate in Japan.

Hi Elle, your guest was a great talker & hope she keeps on pushing "Space" in Japan by also including an occasional video, how you keep in touch with her offering support & ideas, The birth rate in Japan is a big issue which will only get bigger in the next few decades as Japan has an aging population. The Govt needs to incentivize larger families >2 kids & also incentivize child care for those who want to return to work, the child care sounds like a good business opportunity for someone / some companies to break into, for a population to grow it needs families to be >2.1 jkids, China with its 1 child policy & favourtising boys over girls also has this dilemma too

Thank you for 5his interview Ellie, Takae is quite fluent in English and I hope she can start her own succesful Space Channel! I saw you stayed at the busy fun side of Shinjuku Station, September 2023 we stayed on the other side, planning to go back to Japan because there is too much to do and see, and the friendly people, although Jesse who owns Bar Fisbowl in Kyoto told us, that if you want to eat in a restaurant or go out in a bar or club, and you are aksed if you have a reservation, you are denied very politely because they had trouble with foreigners (getting drunk and persuing women) in the past. And in Dutch we have a similar saying: De klant is koning, zolang als hij/zij zich koninklijk gedraagt. 😉 Would love to see more of your Japan trip videos, konbanwa & mate-ne!

Hi Ellie. Thanks for sharing your trip to Japan with us. At 61, I have always been fascinated with the relationship between Japan and the US from WWII on. I love the fact that we can admire each other's countries and societies in modern times and have the utmost respect for the Japanese people, while so appreciating what Takae knows, Freedom is the ultimate goal and the only thing worth fighting for. Cheers from Texas, to Ellie and Takae.

Whether it's fast or slow, if you're on a train in Japan it's better than anywhere else. I hope you had a chance to experience this and a stroll through the enormous main station in Tokyo while you were there. Thanks. I am so glad to see young people traveling to other countries! It is the best way to round out an education. The true rounding is when you get back home and try to return to normal. You have a new normal! If you study humor in each country, you run a chance of being grafted into their culture faster! Humor is usually the last (hardest) thing people learn in a new country. This is part of that path of being yourself and people love you, and have no idea why!

Interesting to hear this discussion. I've lived in Japan for about ten years now (I'm from the UK) - there's always the balance of tatemae (the facade / public feelings) and hone (true feelings). Funnily enough, I was chatting with one of my Japanese friends about TV shows, I was saying that one big difference about Japanese TV shows is that whenever Japanese taste food, they always respond by expressing how its the most delicious food they've ever tasted, nobody ever says, "Oh, it's alright ... but isn't that great" ... and I learned a new Japanese word "YARASE" (faked expression / prearranged performances). Now, mix that with the concept of maintaining WA, one might suspect that the Japan outsiders see might be quite different to the real Japan that lies beneath the surface.

@@ellieinspace Mostly that Japan is anxious to come up to speed and participate in a manned space program - for some reason I didn’t think they cared. The general public seemed to reflect this by their lack of knowledge of Musk’s space program. I wonder if the average citizen knows of their own H3 rocket And that babysitting services are not common in Japanese culture. This maybe the interviewee’s opinion.. the desire of Japanese women for career over children. ..finally, either that was just an overcast sky during your interview or they have terrible air pollution.

This was really interesting for many reasons. Japan culture, female fans of SpaceX! You should interview more women that are involved. I’m sure there are that would be great interviews. I watched a video about Gwenne Shotwell - who is an Engineer(!) and has been crucial in selling SpaceX’s capabilities to NASA. She’s brilliant. You could build a much larger audience by highlighting females. They are underrepresented but I have no doubt contribute immensely in the Space Industry. Japan must be fun. I’ve always found it fascinating.

The voyage to Mars will take a substancial amount of time. The first step must lead away from our tincan designs. This needs a real spaceship. Now this is just being developed. Next is to gain a much higher travel speed. For human space travel, chemical propulsion is useless beyond our Moon. It will need a much more powerfull propulsion. There are some orbital tech demo's planned for 2027. A clever Elon would be closely monitoring these behind the scene. I hope that we are back on the Moon untill then. Japan must wait untill Artemis7. The way it looks now; in NASA time, we must hope this happens before 2040. 🚀🏴‍☠️🎸
