When you think about it: interior of Sci-fi ships: 90% of leaving space or weaponry interior of realworld ships: 90% of fuel.
@ParagonFury
@ParagonFury 3 жыл бұрын
TBF, it is because most Sci-Fi ships either aren't using solid fuel as their primary propulsion, have extremely efficient and effective solid fuel propulsion if they do OR they're built outside of the atmosphere and aren't intended to go back into atmosphere, so they don't need nearly as much fuel as an IRL ship would.

@@ParagonFury you have that backwards, out of atmosphere ships will tend to be mostly fuel. Atmospheric drag has nothing to do with it. As for being "extremely efficient " I did some math a while ago and found that for the Enterprise D to reach full impulse speed then full stop would require something like 7,000 tons of antimatter and of course 7,000 tons of matter to annihilate with assuming 100% efficient transformation of all that energy into propulsion. Including the bulk of the resulting energy that as far as we know simply can't be used. This ignores both real world efficiency issues AND the fact that canonically the ship uses fusion reactors for impulse power not antimatter. I didn't feel like working out how much fuel they would need at some theoretical 100% efficient fusion reactor. But it would be some orders of magnitude higher than 14,000 tons amd several times the ships 5,000,000 ton mass.

@@theguyonthecouch6109 there is such a thing as stupidly large, Warhammer ships fit that description, there is no point to a ship being that big nor is there any logical way so many would be built. With the Borg, their largest ships are just several cubes connected together for their supercube, starfleets largest ships are in the 29th century and beyond with the enterprise J and some of the 32nd century ships. Even star wars in all its ridiculous disregard for making sense has its canon giant ships be either a station or a singular capital ship.

Don't you get annoyed with every "trekkie" that thinks an exploration / science ship ( enterptise 1701 ) will bully / destroy Warships from 2 different cultures that have better tech ( cloaking and disruptor weapons ) from warrior cultures ( Romulan and Klingon ) ? JJ actually got me reinterested in the series as it actually showed "humans" . We get dirty , sweat , bleed and make bad decisions . Yet work hard to make things "right" against impossible odds . Roddenberry's star trek was sanitized and sterile . 3rd season of orginal / the creature feature of the week . *You might want to read up on good old Gene . What we now call sexual harasment and rape was Gene's favorite thing to do to trek groupies ( young teenagers ) while he was married . He was also a communist yet never shared his wealth to mere commoners* Why do you think orginal died so quickly with TV excutives ? A society where federation councilor has the same "everything" as the averge "joe / jane " makes you wonder why would you put in the effort ? Self pride ? Self satifaction ? Sorry this goes against everything in human evolution , competition is normal . We do it for the best food , housing and quality of life to get the best mate (s) and best chance for our kid (s) Socialism/ Communism has not worked on Earth but will it will in Space ?

It's so great to see Space Battleship Yamato get some recognition. Just yesterday, I was across town and stopped into an Anime store that I'd been meaning to check out for a while. They didn't have a single piece of Space Battleship Yamato merchandise. When I asked about it, they'd never even heard of the series. Sadly, this is the response I almost always get when I go somewhere that claims to specialize in anime. Ya basic!

@@Halfscreen A big part of the problem is that the series hasn't been given much of any promotion by Funimation or Crunchyroll. At one point, there were plans to air the 2012 reboot series on Cartoon Network, but nothing ever came of it. For decades, the distributor responsible for Star Blazers in North America and Europe was Voyager Entertainment, which was nothing more than one guy operating out of a tiny office in New Jersey. The result was the withering of the brand in the West down to only die hard fans. Even though it's now in the hands of people who know how to support the series, they appear to consider the damage to already be done, and aren't doing anything to repair the situation. It's still big in Japan, though.

Even if some disagree with Moya, there are still plenty of ships from Farscape worth being included. But Moya deserves to be included as she is indeed a spaceship...a biomechonoid. I've seen other videos from this channel comparing flying ships include living creatures such as Falcor from Neverending Story and Drogon from Game of Thrones. Gee, if living creatures can be included on comparisons with nonliving vessels than Moya and Talyn both deserve to be included here. Just seems Farscape gets left out. Unless it's just that Moya is so fantastic that there is no comparison. Maybe Farscape ships just are so much better there is no competition or comparison.

@@kingmasterlord you know on some of the other videos on this channel living beings are compared to other vessels. There's Falcor the dragon from Neverending Story and Drogon from Game of Thrones for example in a comparison of flying vessels. Farscape does am also have a few other shops that could be included if not Moya and Talyn. THANKS FOR POSTING! My favorite ship here is the Argo aka & called Yamato from Star Blazers of 1979. Something NOBODY ever gets right is the size of a Battlestar. In the original Battlestar Galactica books written by Glen A Larson each single Battlestar represented the collective might of an entire planet. Each Battlestar would be larger than Darth Vader's Super Star Destroyer in The Empire Strikes Back. According to a conversation between Starbuck, Apollo and Adama it would take an experienced hiker years to walk through each room on the Galactica, and the Galactica had hundreds of decks and thousands of Viper Fighters and a crew of hundreds of thousands. The loss of any single Battlestar was a catastrophe. They had to scale it down for TV. The rest is history.
