I remember being a kid ~10 years old and watching this in the theaters and coming home afterwards totally psyched. As soon as I got the VHS, myself and friends built my living room into a "Whiskey Outpost" and had out last stand against endless waves of bugs. Call time out to rewind the vhs and start it over again. Ahh the good memories hahaha

Well, to be more precise about Warhammer 40K resembling SST: The novel of SST was an inspiration for Games Workshop to base their 'Tyranids' race upon, because the SST novel from the year 1959 existed before the Tyranids were even created (first genestealers appeared in Space Hulk in the 1980's and warriors in 1990). Then Paul Verhoeven based his Arachnids for the SST movie on the appearance of the early Tyranids, but perfected them. So in the end they all stole it from eachother and vise versa!

This music is the very definition of exterminating bugs.

I read the book in the early '60's (Robert Heinlein) and I joined the Mobile Infantry (Paratroopers) and fought the bugs(VC).

This is the best Sci Fi film, i remember the first time I watched it when I was 8 and fell in love with it.

The mobile infantry is brave enough but they need better weapons, body armor, tactics, battle plans and on and on and on.

The title of the book is 'Starship Troopers.' It's about life in the armed forces of the future, with heavy politicle overtones. It's a very good book. Read it sometime.

You did an excellent job with this video; you polished the song to the point that I realize what we are missing is more instruments in the orchestra. This could be a much more complex piece; I think you did a much better job than the original version in bringing out the subtle complexities of this AWESOME piece.

This piece is the most heroic & epic theme ever made!! Even Hans Zimmer can't stand up to this and he has done some extraordinary soundtracks too (The Rock, The Last Samurai, for example). This theme would make an excellent intro for a heavy metal -band! In fact, Nile used a part of this theme as a prelude when they were doing gig at Lutakko (Finland) few years back, it was awesome!!

yeah in my opinion starship troopers was one of the great classic sci fi's. and yet some people think it was a parody!!!

The book Starship Trooper was wirtten in the 1960's I think and featured the troopers in big suits of powered armour, the first instance of a now iconic sci-fi technology I think and the bugs were an actual intlligent space faring aline race, rather than a vast swarm of killer termites

For fuck's sake this is awesome and takes me straight back to the late 90's.

what do you mean :P I didn't lie in the title if that's what you mean, it IS extended, the original theme is only half of this + it's a little bit mixed too cause i added some more treble and bass and extra beats somewhere in the end,but that's for you to find out.

I love how in the movie there are a shitload of troopers and bugs, and the game goes: Nope. Less troopers.

I'm not talking about *REAL* powered armour suits, I'm talking about props/costumes for making a movie. If you're talking about a physical prop like the power loader from Aliens, they could do that because they only had two of them, used for just two scenes. This would require dozens, if not hundreds of suits, used for dozens of scenes. Building all of those large scale props would just not be practical, so they were dropped from the movies, purely on that basis.

@thatamazinggeek I thought they colonized other planets already... And the reason for no nukes is simple: we wanted the bug territories for ourselves. In this movie series, the humans were somewhat imperialist, which is why the bugs ended up fighting us at all. It's only when they got out of control beyond conventional armed containment (the most ready, cheapest solution) that we started using WMDs against them.

@thatamazinggeek if im not mistaken, they and the dozen other bug species encountered during the war were explained as biological engineering to fit the needs of the bug war machine. Movies kinda messed it up by nor digging deep enough into the bug's organization. but they occupied dozens of planets for food, fuel and new genetic profiles to use.

Thats why its the perfect song to add to your 40k game playlist like I did. Everything by Basil Poledouris is great for 40k music, including his red october theme and the conan soundtrack... just not quigly down under.
