wait, you are telling me I have to actually learn something before going into a 200k job with no skills/coding/IT knowledge/fundamentals like the other KZfaqr told me?....but for real, great vid! I see a lot of people chasing the sexy cyber security job without wanting to even learn the basics. No shit a girl at work (works in another department) wanted to get into cyber sec but said she does not want to learn programming and would only take a minimum of 165k salary.....6 figure jobs come with 6 figure responsibilities! Follow Grant's advice, learn the basics, learn a programming language, work hard and build over time. Nothing comes over night, this isnt Amazon. Best of luck to anyone in the field, look forward to be a mentor when I feel I have learned enough!

I'm getting my Network+ this upcoming semester but before that I was motivated to self-study for a CCNA while on christmas break after being thoroughly confused while networking a homelab. I'm nearing halfway on my studies for the CCNA and the information I've gained is tremendous. If you guys want to follow his step of learning networking, Jeremy's IT Lab on youtube comes with post lecture quizzes, pre-built flashcards to download, and instructed labs for great practice. I'm in no way affiliated with him, but couldn't recommend him enough for your first deep dive into networking.

Hi, Grant! I'd like to hear your thoughts on the EC-Council’s Chief Certified Information Security Officer (CCISO) program. If I am an aspiring CISO, is it better to get CISSP certified or focus instead of a dedicated CCISO certificate? I'm also doing my Master's in Cybersecurity this year, but I'm aware that not everything in my Master's program aligns with the requirements of a CISO. I'd love to see a video on this topic :-)

Sucks I've been struggling for the past 2-3months trying to get myself an internship/co-op just with my schooling alone. I wish I had extra income to do a cert alongside my schooling for cyber security, but I'm surprised by how sparse opportunities are around this time of year for tech for students. Keeping my head up though as my deadline to get something is the first of February, so wish me luck!

Hello, I just arrived at this channel, I'm starting in cybersecurity, but I have 3 questions, can you help me? 1: Is it better to go after these certifications soon? comptia, CSSP, EC-COUNCIL... 2: Are there really these 300,400k a year salaries? 3: Are AIs or this tech bubble that burst ending or could they end up with jobs in the area?
@shashankbhatnagar22
@shashankbhatnagar22 Жыл бұрын
1) Yes go for certifications. 2) Not at the beginning... NO! But eventually yes. In 3-4 years you can get that salary. 3) There will be a lot of jobs in this area.

Having an interest in cybersecurity and IT, but lacking any mathematical fundamentals (not taking math in senior high school) has always turned me away. How difficult would approaching this as a career be for me without any mathematical confidence?
@peter_phamous
@peter_phamous Жыл бұрын
When you say mathematical fundamentals referencing senior year in high school, that can range anywhere from basic arithmetic all the way to any concept specific Advanced Placement coursework. But we all have access to the internet and calculators in the real world, so the underlying skills you would cultivate from grade school mathematics comes from developing an intuition and understanding for logic and functions. You can learn this very same meta lesson from fundamentals in security and networking, but instead of the application coming in the form of math concepts, it's networking protocols, security paradigms, etc. Thus with enough study and repetition, you develop the same intuition to critically examine any problem
