Today is episode 127 of Shop Talk Tuesday on The Rivers' Experience! When we do a build series on Shop Talk Tuesday we go into further detail on how I accomplish different steps in the build process and how I choose to utilize the tools I have available.
Be sure and check out my website. I have several knives available on the site and all of them have a video (or several) showing how they were made!

Looks like a cool design, Erick! Your tang is a bit narrow though, it’s gonna be tough getting the pin hole directly through the center of it. You’ll figure it out I’m sure. 👍

Not sure it needs a pin
@TyrellKnifeworks
@TyrellKnifeworks 2 жыл бұрын
@@rickpoteet371 It definitely needs a pin. You have to have some kind of mechanical connection in a knife like this.

@@TyrellKnifeworks how about a hidden stud and pommel, that is where I was going with it. I get plum scared getting around a pin on antler.
@TyrellKnifeworks
@TyrellKnifeworks 2 жыл бұрын
@@rickpoteet371 that’s up to Erick. I’d do a 1/8” pin line he is planning and make sure it’s through the Antler and not the wood.

You asked if we were to change anything, OK I'm very limited, My eyes are thinking perhaps tang is too cut out and if it has a weakness perhaps tang might break if some one baton it on fire wood ,Yeah people do crazy shit.

That's why I typically make full tang knives. Anytime you remove that much material, there is always a chance of issues down the road I you're not careful. I chose the 3/16" material to make sure it had a good thickness.
