As a primary school teacher I can honestly say you would be a dream parent to have! You seem so understanding about the challenges children and teachers face everyday at school. I have forwarded this video to my head of early years and asked her to share it with the new parents of children coming into foundation this year. Thank you Emily 👍🏻👩🏻‍🏫

I’m a firm believer in everything happening for a reason. I’ve been watching your videos since your name tag when you were pregnant with Jackson. I’m not a parent nor am I married so I thought it was strange I was drawn to your videos. Recently I’ve been placed as the legal guardian of my nephew and I have been binge watching your videos and they’re helping so much! Especially this one! Thank you so much Emily! Love all the way from New York!

I don’t think there is a primary school teacher who wouldn’t agree with your amazing advice! I am a reception teacher and you have it spot on with how good it is for the children to be as independent as they can. It is great for their confidence. I hope Caleb has a fantastic start to school and with an amazing mum like you I’m sure he will do really well.

My first born is starting kindergarten here in Canada in September and I’m excited and so anxious as well. He is a smart boy and sociable but you just worry if he will make a friend, feel welcome, will the teacher comfort him when he is upset or hurt, etc 😢. I’m gonna miss my little buddy for sure....he’s the one person I talk to all day long 😊. Great tips and good luck Caleb!

I'm rewatching your school-related videos now and that last tip really hit home. My eldest is starting primary school next Monday and my youngest is starting preschool tomorrow, and I know there's going to be lots of tears after we leave him. We are being very enthusiastic about it when we talk to him, so hopefully he'll be fine. It's just that we'll come back home and he's not going to be there for the first time after 3 years. When our eldest went to preschool we still had a baby to care for, but now it's different. I am very excited and at the same time dreading it!

This is brilliant I work in a pre-school and this video would be amazing to show the parents of the school leaver children! The only other suggestion we give is encourage your child to carry their plate to the table to practice if they have school dinners, they’ll have a lot of friends to navigate around and carrying a lunch tray can be challenging! I love what Anna saccone joly does too she puts a funky napkin in her kids lunch boxes 😍 I would have lived that as a child. Great tips Emily will recommend your video xx

I am the same my son is going into reception and because he has older brother some of the stuff he has picked up and educational stuff at home is very important in nursery my son won the tapestry competition for the most uploads so I was really pleased. Making your kids independent plus one more thing I know the sometimes English is not given priority as other home mother tongues but for me I always spoke English even as very young babies we do speak three different other languages but I think we have to remember one thing in school it’s plain English so words phrases letters numbers reading basic books etc. That’s the only way we should make it as easy as possible for the teachers so that both child and teacher have a pleasant experience. Rest of the points are very valuable making sure that they are toilet trained and can feed themselves if they can do that they be more confident and not embarrassed. My son is having school dinners so another tip which I did with my oldest is I downloaded the school menu and through this holiday is to make each dish every other day so they knew what it looks like and tastes like. They still can’t read so by picture they understand. Last point very important point always speak to thier teacher away from the child for any concerns etc as talking about the child in front of the child could have negetive effect and last but not least interact with other parents even if just for hello etc just so they can match your face to your child’s. You never know when you need them Incase as Emily said you get stuck or your late for whatever reason
