When you said you might compost the rest of the sprouts, I yelled "NO!". Don't ever discard them. Most veggie sprouts are delicious & nutritious in salads, on sandwiches or you can juice them. I'm relieved that Gary wanted them. 🙂

Alas all they had was brown. You do get what feels like miles of it when you order. I'm going to start my seeds today I guess and I'll use that leftover tulle like Robbie does. I am always so impressed with the way you design things, your brain is amazing. As are your tips and tricks..making gardening growing veggies so much more accessible and cost effective. Brilliant As to burying an older broccoli stem I had a really wobbly one lots of wind in southern Tasmania, and I was at risk of loosing it, just thought oh well I will just try planting the bit lying close to the ground and it took off beautifully and so much stronger.

You are my great idea hero I love your wonderful ideas I’ve got a question for you i had several veggie plants last year in different containers and my plants were stunted never really grew and started to shoot up before time should I try baking this soil to reuse it or should I buy new soil is so expensive I want to try baking this soil to kill what ever is in there to see and start over also I didn’t have a garden hose to water my little garden I would use water I put into gallon jugs. What kind of kitty litter can I use I have so double duty arm and hammer could I use that? Thanks again Robbie girl you rock and by the way I made those cookies and I can’t stop eating them love that recipe ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I skip the entire sprouting process myself & plant 2-3 seeds in 1 gallon black plant containers which I’ve collected a whole bunch over the years - just fill halfway w first, a coffee filter , layers of shredded junk mail, weeds or other plant discards, some dirt from the garden then an inch or 2 of potting soil + the seeds - leave outside covered with plastic or tulle depending on how weather is doing , in a protected area - too lazy to keep transplanting but understand the need if you want to get a head start on getting your seedlings out early- I had a Napa cabbage ( no roots & celery bottom which I just stuck on some moist soil in my tote , covered with plastic & both are growing leaves!!! Also seeds from organic bell peppers from Costco sprouted , got hundreds of seedlings! Will try with bok choy bottoms & see if the grow like the Napa cabbage & celery bottoms as the grocery stores tend to cut off all the roots - maybe even regular cabbage might grow… if you cut off 1” of the white part of green onions plus roots -stick in dirt & will get green onion 😊growing - ethnic stores don’t bother cutting off all the roots so I buy my green onions at Asian or Mexican stores-look for the longest roots) stick a bunch of roots with 1” of white part in a small planter full of dirt & you will have a continuous supply of green onions - no more slimey green onions that go bad in refrigerator bins after a week
