I have so many seedlings itching to get into the outside world. You, and many others, have encouraged me to step outside my box. Cosmos, snaps, dara, lupine, lavender(s), etc!! This could my “National Lampoons Gardening” year, and not have an inch of grass due to all these beautiful plants.

I love how close your family is! Your mom: "Hell Yea" 😆 What you're talking about with every 3 soil block sections = ing a 4 foot section, that's kind of what I did... I'm going to explain what I did because it may help someone plan theirs out! So after I figured out the space I felt I could manage to maintain all season, keep up with hand pulling weeds, etc. I planned out what flowers I wanted to grow (I have 4 40 foot beds for my annuals & they're 3 foot wide, not counting my row for just sunflowers) then i split all 4 beds evenly to fit all varieties in those beds. That gave each variety about 4' x 3' section. So them I looked @ each flowers spacing, to determine how many flowers would fit in a 4' x 3' space. Well there were some things I wanted a lot more of than that!, & some things I didn't need so many... maybe I'm not sure if I'll like it, or I have a lot of varieties of that flower, or it has 4" spacing, & that's just a lot or something... So then I just went through and tweaked each thing. If there was a variety I wanted more of, I'd find something I wanted less of, or was willing to sacrifice for more of the other flower. So for example: if I wanted 12 more queen lime zinnias- (@ 6" spacing that = a 1' x 3' section) so I'd subtract a 1' x 3' section of something else. (Preferably something that also has 6" spacing, because that's when it can get time consuming to figure out, when the other flower I'm swapping g it out with has a 4" or 9" spacing) (I did that so that in the end I knew I would still have the amount of flowers that would fit in my beds, & not have to keep redrawing or recalculating the entire bed to figure out if it would all fit! Which I did have to do a few times after one of my children distracted me & I lost track of what I was doing! 😫) & then I moved things around according to when It was going to be planted. In the beginning I just added everything in alphabetical order, but there are some things (like say red and orange zinnias and calendulas) that I'm not growing a ton of until midsummer, for fall bouquets, so it wouldn't make sense to leave room to plant them next to the zinnias im starting in spring because they'll shade them out! *YES! it took me a long time! 🤣

Love seeing your family share the love of gardening! I also love snapdragons and started 17 varieties similar to your varieties. Another fun variety is the University of California mix from Select Seeds. I started mine early after the lisianthus and have most of them outside hardening off. I hope to plant them outside early April in southern Wisconsin to enjoy a long bloom season. This is the first year starting them this early so we will see. Thanks for a great video on Saturday morning!

YES! The mint green ones are 2x2 foot squares from Lowe's for maybe $2 each. They work perfectly! Mine were having a hard time holding heat on the plywood and I thought insulation might help hold the heat just maybe two years ago....game changer!

So fun, doing this with your family! 🥰 Have you ever seen the larger soil blocker that has a small square cutout on top. The smaller blocks fits right inside. So once the seedlings started in the smaller blocks start putting on size, you can place the blocks that germinated inside the larger block, giving you more time before they need potting or planting in the ground. KZfaqr "Bloom & Grey Flower Farm" from the UK uses it. I thought it was ingenious! I asked her and she said hers came together as a kit.

Yes! I have the same one. Last year I used it for peppers, eggplants and sweet peas. I found it used a LOT of soil but it is good for many things. I was blowing through bags of my pricey soil blocking mix. Mine was also a lot.

HI, can you do a video specifically on how to grow and care for snapdragons? I'm growing them for the first time this year and I'm worried about staking them, bugs, etc. I'm a home gardener. Also, how do you plant them? The seeds are soo tiny! I must have planted half of my first package of 250 seeds accidentally. :(

Oh question I have some apple blossom snaps starting in my winter sowing jug and growing so slow. Can I just sprinkle them direct since we are having warm weather or will I have better luck starting inside?

I’m so sorry about your mat. I got an a empty bag from Amazon last week, someone sealed an empty bag and put my address label on it 🤦‍♀️ At least mine was only a Easter decoration.

Omg I would of died if you had a hicky on your forehead from that soil thermometer. Omg on amazon what the heck! I mean what the thrip! I truly can’t wait to see your flowers this year. I’m filming all day and then going outside to plant some Seeds direct in my shade garden some poppies and bunny ear violas and lupine. Then I need to start my cucumbers. So I am watching for inspiration because I’m feeling lazy. It’s 75 degrees today! Oh and excitement my potatoes have started!!!

I ordered those exact heat mats about a month ago from Amazon. I did get them and everything was there but the box was completely open and anything could have fallen out.
