This is the start of my Sounds to Sounds Reverse ride up the length of the South Island of NZ!
Sounds to Sounds is a 1500 km bikepacking route typically done from north to south down the length of NZ's South Island, from Queen Charlotte Sound to Milford Sound (check out this site for more info: www.touraotearo.... In March 2023, I decided to ride Sounds to Sounds in reverse, from Milford Sound to Queen Charlotte Sound, just after completing the Tour Aotearoa (TA) route down the length of New Zealand.

Thank you!! Yes I absolutely loved the rest of the S2S route!! (The rest of the videos should show up on the playlist if you want to keep following along). And oh that's awesome about your Christmas plans! Do you know which route you plan to take? I ended up riding up from Christchurch to Auckland this past Christmas myself & really enjoyed riding over the Rainbow! :-)

Oof,tunnels are horrible,had my fair share on my bikepacking trip in norway😢 so, there are some bus services after all? I read somewhere it could be difficult to transport a bike around NZ,but that could prove useful 😊

Ah, well yes I found that to be quite a nerve-wracking tunnel experience, but most cyclists going through the Homer tunnel are riding in the opposite direction (downhill), and I've heard of many amazing and fun experiences very different from mine (usually with someone monitoring to make sure no cars are there at the same time as the bikes)!! On buses - it really depends on the location, but with a little research you can usually find options for transport with your bike!!
