Starting Twin Detroit Diesel 671-TI upgraded to 485HP From Cold Start on board a 1988 46 Post. Started and ran flawless.

The really great thing about owning any yacht with Detroit Diesels is YOU CAN GET PARTS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD ! A real plus when a boat breaks and it will.

Just don't ask for a service call as mechanics with DD 2 Stroke experience are as scarce as hens teeth. Been waiting 7 weeks for Stewart & Stevenson to come out for a call.

Dangar Marine in Australia did a dyno test on a 6-71TI about 485 hp@2500RPM They reckon at those revs they start to develop a problem called ''fretting of the liners'' lack of heat transfer into the block one mechanic said.

Whose brilliant idea was to install the cable master bin right in the center of the engine room?? Must make for some real great maneuvering trying to access.

Yeah the starboard engine had quite a lope when it started. And so did the port but not as bad as the SB. The injectors need to be balanced and some fine tuning in the governor is needed I think!!!

They are running just fine. Starboard is probably just fine but if not an 1/8 turn on the buffer screw will clear that right up. All high HP detroits knock like that. It’s common to all of them.

@@xanaphyst incorrect sir. Mine are 450hp and they do not sound like this at all. These either need rebuilt or some attention by a detroit wizard, which neither of the guys are...unless they know and are lying.

If you slip near this boat, the diesel exhaust stench is horrible.

this is common with boats and these big old diesel engines. Everyone is used to it unless you are at a very expensive marina in the center of Miami where every yacht is brand new and over $3 million.

@@TheBeingReal i was saying that that's common for every boat that runs on diesel. Shouldn't be a crazy diesel cloud if it is running right, but it is common for a good amount of white smoke during cold starts.

Detroit made them all the way to 500hp with a double bypass system. It’s you that is talking BS.

As many diesels horsepower range varies with Turbocharging, and after cooling options to increase Horsepower. 671 Detroits were made so do 190 HP AND UP TO…. 485 HP… these engines are 485 HP… maybe you should try Google???
