As anyone, EVERYONE who has swapped a motor or done work on a car knows, it never works like on the KZfaq videos. THANK YOU for posting honest and entertaining videos!! ...I still remember sitting in my driveway at 19 years old, after spending a Summer night putting a new motor in my old truck, and the thing wouldn't start... 5 in the morning, covered in shit, and tears running down my face... than I remember the ground strap I almost tore out while pulling the motor in the first place. Bolted it up and it ran like a champ. It is never as easy as the manual or videos make you believe it is.

Using a scavenger pump from the turbo runs the risk of starving it of oil. Any air that gets trapped in the drain line could un-prime the pump anyway. Best is a large hose with a constant downhill slope to the return point. If that's not possible, you need a small sump that the oil can drain into, then use the scavenger pump from there, with an air breather check-valve on the top... but don't suck from it without a breather.

For simplicity you all may want to skip the intercooler heat exchanger. A simple 5 gallon tank keeps the water plenty cool. You only need to turn the IC pump on while you are "in boost". SO water mostly stays ambient. And you can ICE it if you are at the track. This works well on my LS turbo street cars anyway. Think it'd be more than enough for your setup. An actual igloo cooler works best as it won't sweat and keeps the water temps in check. Big 1" PVC dump valve on the bottom works well to drain the tank. Good luck!

Looking good, guys! Become the masters of charging! Consider hooking up the main battery to a charger that plugs into a wall, and have your jump starter plugged in via extension cord. Maybe even a second charger for the backup battery. I got stuck in the snow up north off the highway, and kept my emergency jump starter pack charged up from the 110v outlet in my Pontiac Vibe while I waited. Good thing, because the tow truck driver didn't have his jump starter. I had to help him jump start the tow truck!

18:36 that spark next to the open fuel can is why I watch this channel.
@King_Flippy_Nips
@King_Flippy_Nips 10 ай бұрын
despite what most people think gasoline will not catch fire in liquid form only in gas form will it ignite so if the spark had of gone right onto the open hole then maybe you would get a small flame but it would consume all the oxygen available inside the canister almost immediately and go out or you could cover the hole for a second or two and its out, if the canister was almost empty and mostly vapor inside then the gas igniting would expand so quickly you run the risk of it busting the canister open or knocking it over, but thats pretty unlikely you would mostly just hear a loud pop from the small explosion and then youd be fine because you need a constant fuel source, oxygen source and ignition source to pose a risk. You could open the gas cap on a car and throw lit matches at it and the most you would see is a quick flame when the few gas vapors that make it from the tank to the gas cap ignite then after those vapors burnt off there is nothing to burn anymore in the liquid form the gas in the tank is harmless more vapor will have to slowly evaporate and reach the opening where the gas cap is before you could even get another brief flash of flames you could literally use a gas canister as a lamp as long as it was metal and you made sure the gas in it did not have access to too much oxgen at once, you could poke a hole in the cap for the canister and place a wick in it and then light it since only the gas vapor will burn and it requires a fair bit of oxygen to burn as well

Youre using the intercooler heat exchanger backwards. It works to bring fluids to ambient temperature. In your case you want it below ambient temperature. I could be wrong as i live in phoenix and you are in a way colder climate. If you were to fill that system with ice and run the pump with the exchanger it will warm up to ambient temperature faster than if you did away with the heat exchanger. A couple of temperature tests will prove or disprove its necessity. I explained this to AdamLZ a few years ago and he hasn't gone back since. Using an ice chest as a reservoir and insulating your lines should give you lower temps longer. And obviously if the ambient temps are lower than 32 degrees then you can use that exchanger with antifreeze to get intake air temps down to ambient

If you wanted to get it running just to drive around without the turbo, you could remove the dynojet and run stock ECU. If this was a serious daily build, I'd personally go with a Haltech ECU for better control and drivability. The Power Commander is just a piggyback device, it does OK, but there's only so much it can do when it's waiting for inputs from the stock ECU. Not sure what your plans for this build are! Is it gonna be a daily or just a messing around show piece? Can't wait to see what this thing does regardless.

7:45 Davies Craig is the brand you're looking for with electric water pumps. But that's for a diesel or V8. I think a large Bosch or yes that BMW pump u can grab off Amazon should be ok for the smaller engine. For your water intercooler coolant heat exchanger, you might consider putting that small radiator or a transmission cooler sized radiator inside of a box, tilted at a 45 degree angle, and pipe cool air in/out the box with pressure. Much like you see OEM air filter boxes, but with the radiator having air pass through it instead of an air filter. Use an air duct scoop at the front grille of the vehicle and pipe the ram air to the radiator box. You can use a 12v bilge pump air duct blower on the exhaust side of the box to pull air through during times of little airflow across the front grille scoop or past a scoop on the side of the vehicle. Cheers
