I can't think of a single famous Russian actress that has the credentials as her. There might be a few, but nobody in America or England has heard of them.

I don't care if her accent isn't perfect. I like most movie goers am not an expert on accents and it sounds Russian to me. The point more than anything is, like always, she burns up the screen when she's on it. Anna was lucky to get her and you don't look a gift horse in the mouth. She is still one of the best actresses working today and one of the greats of all time. You know the sign of a great actress? If you're still be constantly cast for quality work past 40. Helen clearly has never had that problem.

I'm usually pretty sensitive to 'woke' and I didn't see it that way. It was more like a plagiarized "La Femme Nikita." But it's not like Star Wars or Disney where "You see? You had the power inside you all along!" is a major theme, creating "Mary Sue's" left and right, who are just, you know, better than everyone and girl bosses. They show the hero's arc, starting out humble, entering a crisis, going through years of rigorous training. I didn't feel like Helen Mirren was a "diversity hire" in the Soviet Union. More of a ruthless climber with real field experience. Not somebody who me-tooed all her bosses.
