The State Department issued a worldwide alert Friday for Americans traveling overseas. Sources tell CBS News the warning is a result of recent intelligence, citing threats by ISIS against Pride events in parts of Europe. Glad you found someplace you like. I love the US and am super safe. Never get shot at on the street at night, at school, the mall, grocery store etc. No shootings at all. Just got to live in a sane city. SF, Chicago, Philly, NY, Portland not recommended. Thousands of other cities to live in that are friendly and safe.

Warnings from the US State Department are mixed at best. They warn Americans about traveling to the Mindanao region of the Philippines. I have been there twice and never sensed a threat or ran into trouble. Quite the opposite actually - Filipinos are very welcoming and friendly. For other parts of the world I can see why. We assert our military in everyone else's business with much disapproval domestically and abroad. Too bad we don't focus on issues at home.

These societies have evolved and changed, in some cases surpassing the US yet they aren't asserting themselves elsewhere like the US does. American leadership is still acting like its post WW2 and it needs to change because it isn't winning respect on the global stage. We are choosing to ignore history unfortunately, no country or dynasty that rose to prominence stayed there.....eventually it will fall. Just ask the Romans.

they bought up big sectors of market like commerce to coerce our politicians. so if a politicians says he will make economy rise he first to ask nicely to the cartels who set the prices. and so most of politicians policies benefit central america like the open boards and usa is bulllying every part of world except central america. at this point usa is a shell controlled by central america. then usa is using ukraine and isreal as shell countries to do its own tasks. etc. i meant parent country using subsidiary countries kind of like parent business with subsidiary businesses.

I don't know about other country. I just came back from 2 months travel around China. It is safe days or nights, convenient, and cheap. I travel alone and have not use taxi there. After arrive to the international airport, I rode the subways, bullet trains, and public buses to get to anywhere I like. People are very helpful if you ask for help. At nights, the street and the parks are full of people gathering, dancing, jogging, walking, playing game, singing, and simply eating a snack. Everywhere is super clean and safe. People are friendly too. I spent less money on the 2 months traveling within China than my airline ticket. I will definitely like to visit again till I see every interesting place in this country. Now at home, I don't dare go out after dark.

Judging by some American tourists, the "Ugly American " is no myth. If you act like you're a visitor and respect the people of the country you're in, you don't have to worry.
