I personally prefer the "Bang-baby" origin. Flushed him out as a character, also gave him strong male role model in his father.

I much prefer the bang baby origin of static. I feel it provided a great social commentary and showed what making the right choices to fix your previous mistakes can do for someone. Virgil goes from a bullied youth talked into a city wide gang brawl to end his bully via shooting him, to a confident young man that decides to use the powers afforded to him due to his mistake of getting wrapped up in the gang war to help protect is city much in the same bane as his mother did during the Dakota city riots, albeit without super powers in his mothers case. I will however admit that I have not watched young justice and part of this preference may be nostalgia based. I do however feel that due to the sheer potential and beautiful inter-connectivity of the bang baby origin, I believe it to be superior.

The "bang babies" concept was surprisingly more "realistic" to me than the MetaHuman traffic origin, though both origins could be interpreted as an allegory for deep social problems in the real world.

Damn, they changed his origins, which sucks because I loved the creation of bang babies (which was DC's mutants).

I like the origin story of Static Shock from his tv show, but this origin story is more gritty. I guess mainly I liked how having a loving family in his background helped make him a very different personality from most other super heroes.

i like it. not what i expected to how static shock to be born. originally, he was created from a gas, in this version, he was born from basically torture. which this activated the gene that causes people to get powers. i still prefer the main version where a tv show was focused on him and gear only and has the numerous main, recurring and special guest star characters

I've loved Static since he first appeared in his own comic in the early 90"s. It was great seeing him, along with Icon and Rocket, on YJ! DC needs to use more of the Milestone Media characters!

Even though they changed his origins, they did an amazing job with his character. I've been watching Static Shock lately, they did everything (except the origin) exactly like his character in the old tv show. His personality is exactly the same to the Static Shock's series version, down to the way he speaks. And his powers are done right. The only thing missing is that famous intellect Virgil is famous for, but im sure we'll see some of that in the 3rd season. The only differences are his origins, his outfit, and his voice is deeper lol

Personally I liked static's old tv origin story. It felt more at home he and others wasn't chosen for this just effected by what they could not possibly have known, I mean static was a role model trying to be the best he could be and help others rise up to that level. Even the anti-racist episode sons of the fathers was done right and was a wholesome message... we need to get the old Static back on Tv. it has a high possibility of stopping all those people who are currently going too far. Any who current lore wise, Batman and certain other hero's would have probably stopped such gas ASAP. Thus, it is the best origin we could have received with this run.

Hey, at least they brought back the old voice of Static.

Young Justice is awesome

Static isn't actually a DC character, unless he as a character was sold to DC. He was created by another company that is now mostly out of business, though my knowledge may be dated. I prefer the old Static, honestly. Less edgy as a hero, but more of his interactions with friends and family while trying to balance secretly being a super hero with a normal life.

As much as I like what young justice has done with static, I still prefer his origin on the WB TV show. It just felt more organic and real especially when you include the gang violence part of it.

I like the Big Bang story better, but this is a way to tie into Young Justice by having them all get powers at the same time from aliens to cut back the number of episodes needed to introduce them and fit into a single season. It sucks but i see the logic behind it. Static deserves his own show like before.

Young justice did a great job with a lot of lesser known characters, however there's no substitute for WB static. Young Justice did to static what Sony did to spiderman, kept him young and forfeited his mature story arc.

OG Static origin was better, bang babies was a way better origin story that brought on fantastic new original characters and villains, could do way more with that plot and universe that could rival the likeness of Peter Parker and the spider verse
