How does your spacesuit behave? What does "flushing" do? How do you get oxygen? How loud is a tank explosion? - The answer to the most basic Stationeers atmospherics concerns can be found here.
(Small mistakes here and there. Sorry.)

Just a warning to everyone, the Wrench is by far the most dangerous tool you can wield. Just ask that frame over there.

Why they made the wrench be able to un-glue the frames was a bad decision imho. I've almost died several times.

I've accidentally overpressurized an air filtration thing with an active pump before, trying to learn atmospherics. Big boom!
@OwnerOfTheCosmos
@OwnerOfTheCosmos Ай бұрын
Hm, but that can't have been the air filtration thing itself, I don't know of any pressure limitations there. Must have been a canister or tank involved.
@TheJaniebear
@TheJaniebear Ай бұрын
@OwnerOfTheCosmos Yeh, it was the filtration that comes out of kit (atmospherics), maybe they changed it in the years since i first tried that, but the active vent made it go boom.

13:10 Open the waste tank _in the same grid cell_ as the oxite you're trying to melt, so the introduced gas is at its most concentrated at the location of the ice. Or hold the oxite in your hand while opening the tank. That'll get it going.

Loved it. I need help with my atmospherics and this videos has helped me. Thanks, man. Question ? How do I control the gas pressure from the pipes so that they do not over pressure ? I have my atmospherics set up but I can’t control how much pressure limit for my oxygen tanks and etc. I need help with this. If you can do this tutorial soon, that would complement this video as well. I appreciate it.

Sadly the only ways require power, so if that craps out, and if there's somehow still an ongoing process (temperature growth increasing pressure, or temperature drop causing phase change), that's a problem. To fill an oxygen canister manually, the quickest way is to dunk it into your tank. Make sure that the canister is pure, else you'll pollute your tank. Refilling the tank was shown in the video. Refilling the canister works the same way. TO PROTECT AGAINST OVERPRESSURIZATION: There's a kit Pressure Regulator. Its Pressure Regulator aims to achieve a certain max pressure on its output side, so that can be used to protect a canister or tank. But the problem is that your Filtration unit will relentlessly keep pressuring the pipe, so that would burst eventually (not a canister/tank explosion though). So instead, you could use the kits Back Pressure Regulator, which aims to protect its input side from exceeding the set pressure. You could connect it as a third connection to the output side of your Filtration unit: Connection 1 is the Filtration. Connection 2 is the tank/canister. Now, connection 3 would be the Back Pressure Regulator emergency-releasing the C1-C2 pipe back into the room, just to make sure that nothing goes boom. The best solution of course would be to plop an IC10 into the Filtration unit and just read the PressureOutput value (kPa), turn it into a logic statement (0/1), and set that value to the Filtration unit's Mode, which (de)activates the pump.

I think i remember trying the Europa Oxygen in my suit without having trouble breathing...the trouble came when it was used to cool the suit atmosphere.

Also, how do I pump oxygen and CO2 inside my base so that I can have a proper and decent greenhouse for plants and seeds ?
@OwnerOfTheCosmos
@OwnerOfTheCosmos Ай бұрын
As shown in the video, dropping oxite will give you oxygen (and nitrogen, some plants even need it I think; but oxite lowers the temperature), and your waste canister is a source for CO2, but in the beginning it will not be enough to reach the at least 1% CO2 ratio needed for many plants. The best source for CO2 on Mars is, of course Mars since it's in the atmosphere. Otherwise, Furnace waste gas (filtered and cooled) is an extremely rich source of CO2. Coal burner waste gas can also be used, if you catch it. I usually wing it, but for proper greenhouse operations, you'd want to prepare your gases in tanks at the right temperature. One way to do this is to use uninsulated tanks, so they would slowly equalize with the room temperature - and room temperature is usually regulated, so depending on how much/fast you need gas, just leaning on your habitat's air conditioning in this way is viable. One should pre-cool the Furnace gas, though, e.g. by just letting the Furnace sit for a while before retrieving its gasses. And oxite can be pre-heated: Instead of tossing it into the room, it can be digested by an Ice Crusher. Those pre-heat the ice to 15° (which needs time and a lot of electricity, so that parameter is often reduced to a lower temperature with a Logic Writer or via IC10). IF YOU JUST NEED FOOD: Doesn't need a greenhouse. It's enough to just place 4 Hydroponics Trays in your little survival box, to keep temperature and pressure decent, and to make sure you have at least 1% of CO2. And make sure you also have darkness, because plants need BOTH ligth and darkness (except mushrooms, they hate light). We're only talking plant-relevant light here: Sun or grow light. The rest doesn't matter.

Unless you are next to a massive radiation cloud, heat doesn't transfer in a vacuum.
@StarLink149
@StarLink149 Күн бұрын
@@WakkaWakka25 Not through conduction, but through electromagnetic radiation, yes. You can both absorb and radiate away heat energy via radiation in a vacuum. It does not require a medium. Radiating away the heat is how the big, white radiator panels on space stations work, and how we're able to make a passive cooling system by attaching radiator panels to pipes on the moon in stationeers, which has no atmosphere. The problem is that radiation is a terribly inefficient means to cool down, so the heat energy received from the sun's rays would eventually overheat you. Since the low pressure of the vacuum massively reduces the boiling point of water, your blood, bile, eyeballs, and other internal liquids would indeed begin to boil.
