Stationeers: How To Make Drinking Water

In this series of "How To" mini-guides I show how to undertake some of the core tasks in PC survival game Stationeers.
These videos were made in August 2022 and show the mechanics and processes that are in the game at this time.
Each video is intended to be short and cover one specific topic. You may need to watch more than one to complete a construction project.
In this part:
Making Water
Once your starting supplies of water run low, you'll need to make some more to avoid dying of thirst. This episode shows the water production process, and how to avoid the common problem of the water bottle filler not working because it is too cold

I love all your guides, nice backing soundtrack while I'm literally chilling on Europa. Also, is nobody going to mention that you might be the only KZfaqr I've ever seen who can just casually throw out that 250kPa is 1/240th of 60MPa. Respect.

extremely helpful video. Also, god damn if i could find a friend to play this..... Pressure, energy, gas and fluid variants, this game is WAY WAY more than I ever expected. For me, that is damn amazing. For everyone else... ughh no one would even consider bothering. Guess my friends haven't the capacity or interest for such things..

If you anywhere but moon, you may want put your ice crusher and bottle filler inside, probably in about 20 C atmosphere or you will deal with broken pipes. You can use that N2 for cooling your base and filling your jet-pack or guide it outside to passive vent. In time you may want to get insulated water tank ( you can encapsulate in to floor tiles ) and insulated water pipes which should protect your water in case when you blow your windows. There is also other way to get water with furnace but then you should be able to cool it down to under 100 C to be able to use it in bottle filler.

Question: What is the one way valve for? The pipe network is one single network so putting it in the center of the liquid line doesn't make sense to me. I can understand if you had a tank you wanted to keep full for it, but not in the center of a supply line. Water doesn't "flow" in the pipe, it counts all of the pipe as one big network of pressure, temp, and volume... Ok i get it now...lol nvm. Separate the line so inside pipe isn't frozen and outside one can be. But if you contained all that pipe inside the iron frame, you wouldn't need it cuz none of it would be exposed to "outside". Since you did it all away from the wall for the video it makes sense now.

It is to force the pipe to be 2 pipes not one, meaning that the inside one can acclimatise to the indoor temperature without leeching heat out. If you don't do this it acts as a single pipe and will effectively draw heat in or out of your base like a radiator. However with the changes to thermodynamics in the latest patch, this may no longer be necessary or may me even more necessary - I haven't tested it out yet. On the moon this was historically not a big issue but on extreme worlds like Europa and Vulcan using one long pipe could quickly chill or boil your base by providing a transfer vector for heat from the hotter to the colder side. Valve doesn't totally stop that, but does reduce it by only moving water from the outdoor side to the indoor side when water pressure goes up outside or down inside.
