4 жыл бұрынApril 12th 2020 - So we are talking about staying in the Philippines and how our lives would be different. Today we talk about bugs and dangerous wildlife! Does it get really bad here on Siargao?
Is the summer going to get hotter and hotter or is this temperature final? Are there more flies coming? ( J hates flies :-D ) So many things to wonder about as we find ourselves in this position where we are kind of forced to think seriously about long term living in this beautiful country.
For now we are going to upload a daily video diary of the Siargao Island Lockdown scenario. This is day 26. Our regular family travel vlogs will resume publishing later.

No doubt about it, this is the BEST Vlog during pandemic lockdown. The nature, the simplicity, the wisdom, the substance, the experience of family quarantined in the islands. "stranded" ( on beautiful island). the experience, the adventure of a child. Yes, 10 years from now ( when she's a teen) she'll look back at this.. and maybe she'll have a reaction video. Story might even get sentimental about this.

For me back then, when i look back, one of the major things that makes the island life not make me bored is just everything speaks to you. the breeze, trees and the sea. its like whitenoise but feels alive and organic. It feels like you're always looked after by mother earth.

Interesting.. Apple's don't really grow in the Philippines, except for a very few in Baguio. But we would like to hear the progress of that Apple seedling most definitely!

I saw in a Jessica Soho show apple tree in Cebu and if they can grow it there, then there is no reason it cannot grow there.

I think people made some variety of apples to tolerate a tropical climate. You’ll be surprised I manage to grow some grapes in my backyard as well.

I think the huge lizards you're pertaining to in Thailand are what we call the Tukô in the Philippines. All sorts of fun beliefs and practices are associated with it (depending on your region) as to how to deal with them if they happen to fall on your body or attach themselves. @@iflipover There's actually a video on KZfaq comparing the animal onomatopoeias of Indonesians, Vietnamese, Thai, Pinoys, South Koreans, and North Americans. (Well surely there are scholarly linguistic comparisons out there). Quite interesting how some are so similar while others are completely different. ^_^

In Thailand they're called Tokae ตุ๊กแก (Eng. Tokay gecko), onomatopoeia from the sound of their call. There's lots of Thai superstition about what fate awaits you, depending on how many times you hear them call out at night.

Those lizards are called geckos. In the main islands, it’s quite common. I’m surprised there aren’t any in Siargao. It’s called Toko in Filipino.

Yes, you bet. You have a lot of mosquitos during summer and flies come rainy days. Burning coconut husks (dried coconut shell) infront and back of your house makes the mosquitoes stay away. Just a suggestion. We been watching your videos lately and we're glad to see your able to adjust in your environment. Stay safe and God bless... Take care
