Headed out for a quick stealther in the highway median. It was a nice drive just outside of the city and I managed to find the perfect place. Set up the hammock for a good night of hunkering down. Lots of traffic but was still a decent sleep!

We always talk about what a legend Steve is, but I think we can all agree beautiful wife was the real legend. “Honey can you drive me two hours out of town and drop me off in a highway Median to camp” “Sure” , “honey I’m going to make a raft and go on a week long camping trip with crazy neighbor” “sounds like a plan”. “I know we just got married and all, but mind if we camp for a month and I film it?” “Pure romance, I’m in”, and last but not least, “darn it I lost my lucky boon-docking sweater” “about that…”

@@ClaytonWillisMusic It was clear that Beautiful Wife was holding the camera in the car at the start of the video since both of Steve's arms & hands are in frame & on the steering wheel, and it was obvious that that is what the other person was referring to (since it's the only part where it happens). You incorrectly said she wasn't holding the camera, maybe you didn't notice or missed that part or forgot, which is fine. However, when several people corrected you, instead of double checking, you kept arguing that you were right when you're not. Chill.

My older brother , who was just hit by a car and killed in FLA traveled all over the United States. He traveled by thumb , he stayed in the woods between interstate roads . He had places all over this country . From coast to coast and from Maine to old Mexico. It was how he liked to live . Worked mostly in day labor jobs , but he knew so many places to camp right beside the road and not be seen. He lived on the road and died on the road. 76 and still had a duffle bag on his back . Never would use a back pack. Duffle bag only. But he stepped in a cars path and he left this world doing what made him happy . R I.P. Larry

@Mac_Omegaly

It's a little harder to find people like that today. 24 years ago, when I got lost in France because my youth group gave me the wrong directions for day 2 of 3 of our outdoor "bike and hike" the police dumped me at this kind woman's house, who i couldn't speak to very well, because she knew a bit more English than the officer, and my French was middle school limited. I showed her my camping gear, but she insisted on me using the bed inside the guest room. The next morning I was then arrested, handcuffed and driven into town, released from the handcuffs and put on a bus. I arrived at the final check point 14 hours too early. My bike and equipment arrived 3 hours after I did. And a new city officer waited with me until the youth leader arrived and filled out the paperwork. Most of my friends joked that I broke the speed limit because of my extremely fast finishing time. To this day I still don't know why they cuffed me on my escort to the bus. I was a young teen, who just got separated from my group. I thought I behaved well, but maybe the language barrier caused something I said to be offensive. IDK.

@@outdoor75 well I'm partly to blame, because I got ahead of everyone and was working with the incorrect data. So I don't know where I lost them but it was at least an hour searching for the third landmark that didn't exist in the direction I was traveling before I knew I was in trouble. (One landmark was a fork in the road, and the other was a sign pointing towards Paris. Slightly too common landmarks. Lol) At that point I realized that I didn't have the information for how to get to the next point, and even if I turned around there wasn't anyone left behind to try and follow. I had water, food and my camping gear so I was going to survive the night but I didn't have a cell phone back then. And I abandoned my partner who hated my guts. So I ended up going to the nearest village and flagged down the officer. I could say "I don't speak French." "My name is Mac". And "where is the library?", (Because that phrase made me laugh.) As well as count to 10. I would have been doomed, if I didn't also have a sheet of paper that explains the group I was with and my destination pre typed out in French.

This reminds me so much of being a kid. We were sort of a "different" family in that we would camp in similar situations. It was my mom, her BF and myself and we watched a LOT of military/navy seal documentary type videos. My favorite was sneaking into a golf course near our hometown, Sea-Tac WA. We'd all dress up in clothing from the military surplus, sometimes even wearing camo paint on our faces. The goal was to sneak into the course, unnoticed, and spend the night camping in much the way the military does. At the crack of dawn we'd wake up, quietly gather up our things and sneak out before the groundskeepers saw us. More than once we were within 20ft of the workers and they had no idea. Nowadays that's probably a good way to get yourself shot but, man, were those trips a blast. I was 8 to 11 years old and I loved the excitement.

I'm an avid hammock camper here in Sweden and just recently found your channel! Love your content, I'm too cowardly to camp in urban spaces but I sometimes get a rush watching you do it, haha! I'm drying my hair watching this so I have captions on, and it kept showing [applause] for the highway sounds which I thought was hilarious. Keep up the good work!!

There are parts of the Atlantic City Expressway in NJ where there’s a large wooded area between the eastbound and westbound lanes. More dense than the one in this video, with lots of under growth. It sometimes occurs to me when I drive past, “Ya know, if I had to, I could probably live in there for some time without being noticed.”

@@asterix7842 I just remembered one trip when we were cruising down for a buddies bachelor party. My friend had to pull over because I sharted. I ran into the woods with baby wipes and threw my dirty underwear into a tree. Problem solved. I think we were doing blow on the way down and it made me crap myself. 🤣
