In 2015 the State of New Hampshire cleared a mile long section of the abandoned Ex-Maine Central Mountain Division and by 2019 the Conway Scenic had restored operations on this track. The reactivated track between MP 57 near Redstone Quarry and the Saco River Bridge last saw service around 1986/7. The first train on the restored track was in May of 2019 when Conway Scenic ran budd car trips to the Saco River Bridge. On September 1, 2019 ran the Notch Train to Hazens with a side trip to the Saco River Bridge on the Redstone Branch (Ex-Mountain Division). Conway Scenic 252, a former Maine Central GP38, was on the south end of the train as steam locomotive CSRR 7470 was on the north end. Leading south/east 252 led the train to the bridge at Saco River probably for the first time since the 1980's. On the other end 7470 pulled the train north/west from the bridge making history as I believe this was the first time since the 1950's that a steam locomotive had led a train here.
I'm not particularly familiar with this territory so corrections are welcomed.
