Steampunk clock design - January Clock challenge

Hi I'm Wendy a resin artist and crafter.
In this video I have joined up with a large group of crafters from across the globe to make a clock in the month of January. This challenge was put together by Huw from 'Wooden it be nice', who has challenged a multitude of crafters to make a clock which tells the time.
This is what I came up with. Its is a layered clock with cogs to give it a Steampunk design. Made in a cake tray which is readily available from most places, and fairly simple to make. The cake mould was purchased from BnM in the UK for around £2.50.
As the clock will not be on any kind of base, I decided to use silicone to create a void for the clock mechanism. This way, I did not have to rout out the back wasting resin and creating more mess and hassle.
I did make the numbers myself from a small number mould.

Watched every minute ... of course 🙌🙌🙌❤❤❤ Love it ! You are so patient and persistent with your work ... that silicone insert was a genius move! Love the results 🙌🙌❤❤ this challenge has been so fun ... I have watched about 60% of all the clock videos ... still making my way through 🤣🤣🤣🤣

A completely different take on the Challenge, but very pretty. I like those gears and scrap pieces in the resin. Resin isn't my thing but this I like! Thnx for sharing.

Fantastic and so much more attractive and interesting than a shop bought one. I wonder how it would look with the colour changing LED strip lights with the LED's facing inward around the edge would look ? Was mesmerizing to watch .

well i would definitely hang that on my wall any day of the week, 100% definitely something to treasure and be proud of its amazing!!!! i hope you have strong walls i havent here and the thickness of that it would prob take the wall down its amazing though and i would risk loosing a wall lol i used cogs in dominos the other day 1st set was a complete fail but 2nd are fab even if i do say so my self lol

Hi Wendy, your work is brilliant, you are my go to for everything resin ( I've only just started) I really would like to have a go at this, can you please tell me the size of both moulds, also I do some work with air dry clay and have got a mould for cogs etc. if I sealed the clay would it work and my last one when do you put up new projects and your draw ??? Hi Janet, thanks for your questions 😀 Firstly the cake mould is just that a standard silicone cake mould. I think it’s around 7 inches and the middle one is around 1.5 inches if I remember correctly but really you just need to measure your clock part and find a silicone piece a little bigger than that. I’m sure once air-dry clay is completely dry it will work fine in resin. I wouldn’t think you even need to seal it as it’s a dry substance. I put out videos every Tuesday and the giveaway ones as and when I hit a milestone for my channel. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching Happy crafting 😀😀👍
