I swear, Rub n Buff is a GODSEND for steampunks. You can make just about anything look steampunk by adding a little bronze, gold, or copper Rub n Buff, it's amazing. I used some copper on a pair of old boots, glued on some various watch parts, and spottily painted the laces with a different brand of gold metallic to give it a kind of stained, distressed metal look. I get complimented on them all the time, and best part is being able to say "I made them myself!" 😂

Im kinda new to Steampunk (the practice of it, I should say. I've known of it and have had interest for some years now), and this video was really nice and easy! I like the results you made! I'll have to try out some boots to get started with clothing making, it looks so fun and easy.

Skin yes, but always wear clothes you don't care about when crafting, in case you make a mess. 😉

oh speaking of the shoes, I did kinda find a supra with a minor platform by accident the other day, not sure if its to your liking, but look up supra skytop II HF, although weirdly it seems like they look their best in white

Those are pretty rad. The liquid gold metallic was something I haven't seen before. They were so great I'm kind of jealous. But good thing is I do have a pair of combat boots that I don't wear because my friend has the same ones... I love to diy and you're a great inspiration! Thank you

btw if you want to recreate this i suggest glueing stuff to it first and aply the rub n buff later, the wax substance may shorten the lifespan of said glue since the glue cant stick to the leather of the boot because the rub n buff is in the way, its usualy not that big of a deal but on boots its particularly important simply because the leather is flexible and moves around a lot while you wear them/walk in them if you dont want rub n buff on certain glued on pieces just cover them with masking tape and like i already said its not that big of a deal but its realy anoying if something falls of especialy if its a bigger piece or a real eye catcher piece etc if that falls of during a shooting or while you just wear them casualy its realy frustrating because sometimes you just dont have equipment on you to repair it but especialy on shootings i always recomend a small repair kit with super glue etc better safe then sorry

One thing I don't like about the boots is that you used way too much of the paint. Typically when creating something like this you want to have a dark base and have some objects that contrast attached, instead of having the entire object be extremely brightly coloured. Just trying to give feed back thats all.
@TezManiaTV7 жыл бұрын
I wanted gold boots and not stained gold boots. Feel free to use as much or as little of the rub n buff as you like.

Hi, I was wondering what does something need to have to be steampunk. I often see a lot of lace and these clocks like gears .... Is it all?
@TezManiaTV7 жыл бұрын
Mickji Best way to learn more is to give it a good Google! 😉 I am no steampunk expert, but it's a fun style! Machinery, copper and gold, clocks and bolts and hats.

Have you ever tried using puffy paint? It is 3D paint and what I have done is you paint over it and it can be used to make "rivets" or patterns that are 3D but too small to really mold out of clay. I used it on my Worbla.
@TezManiaTV7 жыл бұрын
Arianna Silva Never heard of it. Sounds cool though!

TezMania TV I wasn't sure if they had it in New Zealand. It would be in a plastic bottle with a nozzle probably around the kids craft area.
