It's basically almost canon at this point /j . I couldn't fit everything in here, the video would be way too long.

i have a feeling rhys darby would be the last one to disagree with this headcanon. he puts so much of his own eccentric attitude into the role that stede just feels like a genuine funky little human. love it.

My bf always laughs when I say the full latin name of any plant i encounter and i never understood why… now I see Stede do the same thing with that insect.. i get it now.

Stede is just so cute and honestly so on the spectrum I see myself in him a lot, which is lovely

He is isn't he :) Yeah I see myself in him too, that's why I made the video.

I missed the caption that you’d moved on to clumsiness and I was just fully accepting that you were showing examples of being a pirate as one of his special interests😂

@@marianeoliveira9015 basically what they mean is just the pacing around while he talks. In this case, it's done to regulate/stimulate/release energy (I didn't know exactly how to describe it bc English is not my first language, I hope that made sense)

Has this been confirmed by the people of the show? Seems so random to me:D

No, it hasn't been confirmed by the people of the show, it's just a popular headcanon (that I agree with)

I know Rhys Darby has mentioned before that he thinks he is on the spectrum but is uninterested in diagnosis. He's also said that Stede feels like he was written for him so I'd say Stede is very clearly coded to be autistic.

@@lini0024 Oh, thanks for the answer:)

They went even further with the autistic-coding of Stede (and ADHD with Ed). Can't be coincidental. The only reason it's not explicit is probably that you wouldn't get a diagnose in the 18th century. I'd still love to hear the writers talk about that.

Little reminder of an actual neurodivergent: clumsyness has nothing to do with that. As the greek part "neuro" suggests, it only concerns the mind, not the body.
@Yes_5879 ай бұрын
Clumsiness is actually a symptom of autism, I was asked about it a lot during my assessment. If we're talking general neurodivergency, dyspraxia is very much a co-ordination disorder, and many other neurolofical disorders also affect co-ordination. The word "neuro" actually refers to nerves, not the mind, and nerves and the brain are responsible for many things, including co-ordination.

yeah this is objectively wrong. poor coordination is often a part of neurodivergence.
