The gate was damaged by the impact so only a gate-open test could be
conducted.

Even with an open gate and after suffering fall it STILL managed to hold up at 17.1 kN which is about 3500lbs! A lot of safety built into these.

Where can someone drop a biner from 275m onto hard surface except from a high rise building or some kind of flying vehicle? ;)

If you would drop it from the top of Time Wave Zero (a multi pitch route in Mexico), the fall would be more than doubled.
