Steel darts are fascinating... so small, so pretty, so pointy.
But truth be told, as a projectile they aren't really very well suited. Made to be thrown by hand over very short distances, they are typically very fragile. You can't shoot them like a normal crossbow bolt or arrow as the flights would simply crumble.
But we NEVER give up! With this new concept, we can now use these little sports products really effectively...

I think it is not for drying the wood but for warming the wood for better oil soak up.

@@Dapstart Aa, ok. I heard about this technique (microwave or regular oven) for preheating wood before oiling. And while I didn't catch anything about drying in this video and because he was oiling wood just after microwave I thought it was the true reason :)

Three slingshots in one video? Now, this is why keep coming back to this channel. I would have been fully content after the first slingshot, and then you do a crossbow? And then you start talking about a magazine, and I look at the time remaining, ”Could he? Naaw, not enough time left. ” And then, goddammit, you show us WHAT YOU CAME UP WITH, and it’s slingshot number three!! The amount of work you put in is, as you say, BAD ASS! No bullshit, no teasers, no cliffhangers. Most other youtubers would chop this video up in three videos, one trailer, one of those annoying new pictures, an outro and a best-of summary. You f***ing ROCK, Jörg!!!!

KY GameTech good thought KY. I have a pistol grip crossbow that will shoot down arts or bearings and it is really hard to cock. It uses a steel cable tho. I would really like it except the safety is undependable. Kinda dangerous. Maybe Jorge will look into it. He seems pretty handy.

EXCTLY ! THIS IS FUCKED UP ...you should not even show this build such way, i guarante someone will drive a dart through their hand and some become cripple for life. What you need to do is some cover in shape of V placed/mounted between the fork arms that goes on top of your hand holding handle, so if one of those bad shots happen dart won't penetrate your joint.

50 years from now, we will have developed the technology to communicate with inanimate objects. Someone will see Jeorg’s barn and notice all the nicks, holes, chips, and dings. Not being familiar with the Slingshot Channel, their initial thought will be that the barn just aged gracefully as a result of exposure to the elements. There needs to be a test but I suspect Jörg's first dart might disable the machine... and kill it! On a serious not tho, I suspect with the dart not flying true until the later stages of flight it might get close but the chances of bullseye will be a lot less than a correctly thrown dart.

Awesome idea. Two suggestions. Shoot the darts point down so that you have more clearance on the slingshot, and use a claw hammer to remove the darts from the barn door.

When I was a kid, we would get some small tubing, tape it to a pipe, then take a needle and roll scotch tape around the back to make a funnel shape. Those darts were so awesome! This was a simple way to make a blow-gun and a few times, I actually pegged a fly to a wall from over ten feet because the were so accurate. Not much power but an extremely precise and accurate weapon at 5 to 40 or 50 feet. Having access to the Anarchist Cookbook at the time, I really wanted to experiment with quik-injection darts but soon fount that it was very time consuming and machining experience is really necessary to get the thing to work right. Not that I knew what the hell going to tranquilize or poison once I had one but you know how kids are...

My father grew up during the depression south of Houston Texas. He made a crossbow out of an oak 1X4 . A piece of heavy duty aluminum for the bow. He used tire inter tube and made the locking part out of coat hanger. Of course he made short arrows. This dart thing is amazing.

I think you should wear protective eye glasses. If those darts get stuck in the slingshot and bounce back towards your face, you could lose an eye.

Was shooting steel darts 60 years ago as a kid from a standard slingshot, I found it far better to place the dart point down, flight up, it clears the “Y” fork better and settles into straight flight faster, lost too many darts and became to costly, your a genius, love your videos 👍

I know commecial videos are pretty much your only way of making a comfortable living off of your channel but I really do prefer the good ol theraband slingshots videos

Personally as a long time fan I love the commercial videos. They provide a new challenge and working under guidelines forces Joerg to be creative as well as funds new and exciting inventions! I think he understands that as a creator he needs to constantly be working on the newest and most creative contraptions, the sponsers seem to allow him to do this more. Just my take! yes I know. Maybe I wasn't saying it clearly, but I tried to say that I really enjoyed this video! It's really nice to go back to the classic slingshot channel sometimes! Don't get me wrong, the commercial videos are entretaining too, but ain't nothing like the classic recipe
