It is impressive how the transmission can withstand such load without shearing the gears teeth.
@RagingGeekazoid Жыл бұрын
@@yaedo6035 There's not a huge amount of torque on the gears that are connected directly to the engine. They transfer power by revving fast. It's only the granny gears that connect to the driveshaft that take the heavy loads, and I would guess that even those aren't stressed as much as the drive axles because of more gearing down at the differentials.
@yaedo6035 Жыл бұрын
@@RagingGeekazoid I was referring to the output gears. But had not considered the drive axles.

@@yaedo6035 Yep. It looks like a typical ratio for differentials is around 3 or so.
@RagingGeekazoid Жыл бұрын
@@yaedo6035 Now that I think of it, if the differentials distribute the power equally to four pairs of wheels, a ratio of around 4 would mean the driveshaft takes about as much torque as the axles. 🤔

For being a very isolated region, I checked on fuel prices for vehicles, as they could be sky-high due to the transportation distance for delivery. I found a January 2020 price list published by the Canadian Province of Nunavut. Diesel price per liter, in Canadian dollars, was around $1.17; near equivalent to $4.68 gallon US dollars; which as of this writing in February 2021, makes the Baffin Island fuel price anywhere from 40 to 80 percent higher than what's found in the 'states. The cost of the Baffin Island diesel surprised me when compared to the European countries prices as of this writing, ranging from a low of 0.99 Euros in Austria/Poland; to the high of 1.45 Euros in Norway.

For a comparison with regards to the steepness of this road grade: The major US interstate highways are generally no more than at a seven percent grade. A percentage % grade is measured as a one-foot elevation rise, or height increase, for every 100 feet of linear, or horizonal, distance. Meaning this hill climb rose 18 feet for 100 feet of horizontal distance.

I love the wind in this video. It gives it a kind of natural feel.

Thank god that tank is round and not square. That KW, trailer and tank would have been blown over with that wind. Sounded like walkin outside in South Dakota, but ya know out here Nebraska blows and North Dakota sucks and we're in the middle
