I just picked up the 42mm. BTW the lug to lug on the 42mm is 49mm. Sits great on my 7.5" wrist. I agree when you see the ceramic bezel in person it makes the watch. Must have for Magnum PI fans. I set it to the atomic clock and still spot on after a couple days. I sized the bracelet in 10 minuets with a quality micro screwdriver. Great value and going to be a keeper. I went with the oyster bracelet version.

I was just at Gnomon watches today. Tried on most of the GMT models including this exact one on the jubilee. One thing I noticed is how loud and bright this looks under the store lighting. Looks great but it's like saying to people, "hey check out my watch" .. Lol. I love subtlety so this one, especially on the jubilee is a no for me. So flashy. But it does look good. After looking through various GMT models, coke, pepsi, batman... I ended up buying the batman. Almost bought the coke though which is slightly more subtle than the pepsi, but I'm a sucker for blue and the batman was the most subtle one. So batman it is 😊

I love how the bezel color seems vibrant even if it's ceramic. The rolex Pepsi gmt does definitely look great, but it does have darker blue and red, and a thick Lugs and crown guards... It unfortunately makes the watch look a bit chunky. This Steinhart seems to pay homage more on the vintage style rolex, which does look more elegant and vibrant. Good review! I would never get a fake Rolex. But a homage is interesting, and this watch looks great! There are so many positive opinions about Steinhart, and the only true drawback seems to be that the lugs are unnecessary straight. I would like 42mm size and with 50mm(the limit for me) lug to lug it could work if the lugs were "normally" bowed. But not with the present lug design. The 47mm lug to lug of 39mm model will surely work good, though. So I find this watch very attractive. And one advantage with the smaller size is the lower weight.
@JustWatches13 жыл бұрын
Yes, a slight curve in the lugs would be perfect, especially for the 42mm model. I think the 39mm is the perfect size though. And at ~3% of the current asking price of the Rolex, this is a perfect option for me :)

I have both the Classic Ceramic GMT blue/black (Batman) bezel) and the double-green (Hulk) premium Ocean One. I prefer the 330-2 Sellita movement in the GMT versions over the 200 for its easier winding action and longer power reserve.
@seayak Жыл бұрын
Yes, the bezel on my Ocean One 39 with the green ceramic bezel is very tight too - I am hoping it loosen up with use. I wonder if the 42 mm versions are easier to turn, just because of the leverage with the larger diameter bezel. I use the bezel quite a lot on dive watches for timing all sorts of things, up to and including when my tea is steeped, but likely will have fewer occasions to rotate the bezel on a GMT watch, since this is most useful for tracking different time zones. I think I will pop for a 42 mm Steinhart GMT for sailing however- the combination of that complication (so I can track GMT offset) and the high level of waterproofness make this the perfect combination for me.

The accuracy will inevitably be slow on the wrist most likely. The timegrapher demo is nice to see but not a complete indication of the accuracy since the watch is only one stationary position. In a different position or on the wrist, it could be different. I personally like to regulate my watches at the +5 sec/day on the wrist, that's just how I like it. Nice to see decent amplitude and I'm assuming the watch is fully wound and the beat error is near zero. Nice review and appreciate the candidness. I just wish Steinhart would fix that flat lug to lug layout. Thumbs up and thank you!
@JustWatches13 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this one is puzzling me a bit because generally I find exactly what you said. The watches tend to run slower on wrist. This one has been keeping excellent time on wrist. I wonder if it is because it is accurate in more positions than I am used to. For example, Seiko movements tend to vary in rate a lot in different positions. I'll have to test this out in more positions. I know the SW330 elabore is adjusted to 4 positions. Oh, I totally agree about the lugs, just a gentle curve would make a big difference.
@TheFlyrodder683 жыл бұрын
@@JustWatches1 Test the watch in at least six different positions and that's quite tedious but worth it if you're obsessed with accuracy as I am. I've evolved to appreciate the consistencies of several Swiss movements than the Japanese (Seiko and Miyota) in my experience. The Chinese are definitely stepping up their game as well but has a long way to go for marketing.

I had this and its 42mm cousin on my wrist a couple of weeks ago at the local boutique and it looks even better in real life than in pics or videos. No wonder both sizes are currently sold out and on backorder on Steinhart's website.The only reason why I haven't bought this one is that I'm more into retro homages and own the 39 Vintage GMT Pepsi already. If my 39mm Ocean One's bezel is an indication as to how those bezels usually break in, then you shouldn't have much of a problem after a few weeks. On mine the action got smoother over time. It's still a little stiffer than my 42mm Steinharts, but that's probably just due to the difference in size/geometry.

Cant get my head around a 42mm GMT homage, I've got a 40 mm GMT homage which is perfect. so losing a mm for 39 or gaining 2mm for the larger version is screwing my head up. I have a 7 & a bit inch wrist. Anyone have any input they could give me?
@JustWatches13 жыл бұрын
With your wrist size I think you will be safe with either size. It mostly comes down to preference, do you like a bigger or smaller watch? The lug to lug difference between the two is only 2mm (the 39mm one is 47mm lug to lug and the 42 is 49mm lug to lug). Personally, I would go with the 39, but that is because I think 39 is the perfect size for my wrist, and the case is very straight so the lug to lug of 49 is a bit too long for me. To be honest, you do sort of just get used to the size of your watch once you wear it long enough so don't overthink it too much :) Happy hunting and let me know what you end up with

The problem is that the watch i tested wasn’t mine, it is one of my friends’😁 When i purchase this model somehow, it will be time to let my islander pepsi go.
