Untrustedlife - I removed the one which gave an extra population for clearing, but the others only add max districts which I was nowhere near needing yet, the energy was better spent on the market for other stuff until I needed the space :)

Yup! The Faith In Science change was pretty significant. Still feel It's a great first tradition to get due to leader levels and surveying along with the science bonuses early, but It's nice that it isn't a must-have first tradition tree anymore!

Expansion really is a good way to go with the admin cap, and iirc the completion bonus gives you extra housing or something.

Yeah @cirkle expansion is a great start and efficient bureaucracy is a good quick civics switch once you get settled. 70 empire size is a pretty comfortable size empire for early game.

The removal of anomaly discovery chance also means you don't have to spend a point just to start discovery anymore since anyone who didn't at least start discovery was missing out. All the changes to strategic resources was nice too. No longer do you need to murder that neighbor who got the one zro in the system.

I said it on your top 5 video that i was so much more interested on the "civics"(ethics and authority included) part of the game and this update delivers! I mean damn a more in depth planet system and economics(more resources to balance) which makes everything have more interesting story to tell! Like i can have the same any one or even two of the three (civics, ethic, authority) with yours but still the last makes a big change!

The advantage of a victory year is to have a more defined end for games that don't involve world conquest or the like, so I like it for that reason. And hey, it can be turned off and ignored so it's not like it hurts having it there.

I think one major change that the new admin cap system makes is the fact that colonizing two size ten worlds that are already in your territory will have the same impact as expanding into a system with a size 20 world and colonizing that one (once planets are fully developed).

@@TeemoQuinton It's not entirely correct. Empire size takes into account the following: Districts, Systems and Colonies. So if you had two 10 size planets on each system the Empire size would increase as following: +2 for each system = 4 +2 for each colony = 4 +1 for each District = 20 = 28 While one 20 size planet will give the following: +2 for each system = 2 +2 for each colony = 2 +1 for each district = 20 = 24 So you take a slight penalty for several planets of smaller size. compared to the larger planets. + the larger a planet, the more efficient it is. As several buildings give flat % bonus, to mining, power and farming. Meaning more districts means more effect of the buildings.

This is an incredibly powerful start. 6 planets in roughly 12 systems?! You can build a powerhouse tall economy with that and easily stay under your admin cap. The only thing missing is a black hole for the matter decompressor some time down the line.

Stellaris is much harder to explain than to actually learn, but such is the case with most Paradox games. I remember it took me forever to realize that I shouldn't build new stuff on planets until the current jobs or housing was full. No one wants to work the mines when they could do science.

Sectors only have a range of 2 connections. So, if you are trying to limit your sector numbers, picking a sector's starting system is important as that sets what is in range. Any other planets within that area belong to that sector but will not expand sector reach.

I hope you figured out that a starbase collects trade from its system without a trade hub. The building is used to collect from neigboring systems. Building weapons on your stations both increases trade protection in the system, it protects neighboring systems as well. Batteries extend the protection by one system, hangers extend protection by two systems.

Energy focused empire is great, definitely better than in previous versions. Whether you go for peaceful or warmongering playthrough, energy now is one of the most valuable resource, especially true for warmongers. Minerals roughly is just as good as food now

Oh yeah something that happened to one of my planets is that it was size 10 (only planet in my quadrant that was of my type, dear lord) but it could have 11 agricultural districts. Also I was playing as Authoritarian and my authoritarian faction got pissy with me because my robots weren't stratified, despite them being servile. Might want to avoid building robots till you can get them a stratified economy.

The voice reminds me of zap brannighan for some reason. Aside from that, it would appear that the added cap to expansion is leading the ai to expand just as slowly as you are, so longer games are more likely to be a thing in this update.

Yay! Return of the money trees! :) Sadly, the criminal stuff doesn't seem to work very well. They almost always shut it down immediately - all the way through the end crisis, and only mananged to get one to last more than a year or so. :( Hoping you'll find something I missed. (Side note: on the off chance you're thinking of going bio-ascension+crossbreeding with lots of races be prepared to spend a /lot/ of time in the species screen.... they really need to improve that)

Sean H There are some bugs in 2.2, although the worst bugs haven’t hit me. I’m hoping for a 2.2.1 hotfix update today, but so far, 18 hours after release, PDX has made no promises. They do have an internal build that fixes at least one 2.2 bug, but they haven’t say if we’ll get a patch today, on Monday or even on Tuesday!

If you add Hangers to Trade Hubs they can protect to 1 system from the hub. No need for patrols

There are lots of bonuses to POP growth speed you can get, so the 10% bonus from Expansion isn’t all that important.

I found increased population growth uneccessary as biopop in normal empire as you get so many bonuses from other techs/policies that in midgame it is almost useless
