thank you for the wonderful tutorial. Finish day calculation formula was not correct in my guess. Because if WORKDAY(J6-1,C6)-1 is sunday then it is become weekend. How about =IF(Weekend_work="No",WORKDAY(J6-1,C6),J6+C6).

Cheers! Yes that rings a bell, I think there is another comment on this. THhe latest version has =IF(Weekend_work="N",WORKDAY(J6,C6)-1,J6+C6-1) and the note in the instructions. "Please note that when a task completes a Friday night - and there is no weekend work, the system puts the completion date on a Sunday night. This is to allow the Gantt chart to calculate properly the After Date - as in fact it positions itself the day before the next working day."

Hello thanks for the feedback. I use Custom format to do this. Right click on cell / Format Cell / Custom and you create your own format in this case # "day(s)"

This is awesome thanks! - I need to create a GANTT chart for several years divided into months, but when you type in 30 days, it leaves some months (e.g. december) divided into 2 columns).. I only need months, no weekdays or dates - is there any way to get 1 column per month consistently? 🙂

@JuliesModeVlog Thanks for your comment. When you input 30 days it should be the exact month. I have tried and do not have the problem you have. (Sometimes the month is greyed out if I set "work on weekend" to "N" and the first day of the month is Sat or Sun - which I have just fixed for the 30 day scenario). If you want to send me your version to the email that sent you the template I will have a look...

What are you trying to capture with the "Done Until" Field? I'm trying to figure out how to modify the dates if the Remaining work is more than the initial estimate (ie. bad initial estimate). Thanks a lot. This is a great tool.

Thanks for the feeback! The "Done until" field is used to 1) Show the work done on the Gantt (Deep blue) and 2) report if the task is on track or not. If the task is not completed and done only until a date in the past then I know it's late.

Hi. Well adding the holidays without using VB Macros would make the formulas just too complex. Check the monthly cost of MS Project and you'll see why.

Hello Sir, I have set weekend working as 'No'. So Suppose my start date is 18th Jan 2024, total days worked = 2days, then done until it's showing as 21st Jan as per the formula, but 21st Jan is Sunday. Please help here as Done until date should not be a weekend date as I marked Weekend working as 'No'

@anuragsurve5853 Yes I know... This is the way Excel calculates the end of a working period, if you finish a Friday night it will put the Sunday night as an end date. To start with I thought it was odd but come to think of it is not a bad idea. And it makes all calculation much easier. Having said that I will find a way to change the display end date in my next version.

You should bring back the wingding font directly with the tick. The u is just the wingding tick when you change the font to normal (ie arial or the likes)

Hi there - thanks for that and I understand your frustration. Of note: These templates are more to provide an Excel demo and providing ideas rather than providing a workable template. Now if you have created the Excel yourself then I would rather not get involved (I am sure you understand why), but if you download the template (check in the description of the video for the link) and try to use it and the problem persists I can have a quick look for you no problem.
