good video, especially on the 12 mini it’s super easy to crack the screen trying removing it, i found that after heating it on a heat pad i kept a hairdryer on the phone constantly as i was removing the screen, these new phones seem to be super good at dissipating heat so i found a constant heat source was essential, i like using a hairdryer more then a heat gun since hair dryers don’t get hot enough to burn the oled like heat guns do, i’ve ruined a few screens that way, hold it for too long in one spot for half a second and your done, i actually ended up buying a suction cup jig that clamps the top and bottom of the phone and uses a super strong suction cup on the screen to make a gap so you can insert a guitar pick or something to keep it open, i think it came from aliexpress, makes the process way less stressful

I made an updated video to this using less heat and 91% isopropyl alcohol. Game changer. I’m not a big fan of suction cups as it’s possible to damage the oled especially when the device is older as the glue that holds the display to the bezel loses integrity

I literally broke my iphone 12 mini screen by opening it to fix my speaker so i heated the phone and carefully started to remove some glue suddenly i saw a black spot on my screen in the corner i was so pissed i ruined it, so i ruined it even more now there are multiple lines 😢

Be careful with the 13 screens they are very thin and too much heat will destroy the lcd

Did u heat the screen up on d screen separator machine? . If yes for how long at what temperature

I used a regular heat mat. 70 celsius for about 3 min

If I need more heat I’ll use a heat gun in specific spots. Since the video I’ve broken 2 screens trying to harvest the screen from donor device so the new technique I use is heat and a Magic Glass instead of a isesamo

Magic glass is a lot wider which is better because it doesn’t apply so much pressure to one part of the screen

Heat is key here tbh just make sure it’s nice and hot so the glue don’t cause you to crack it

My new method is using an ifixit jimmy + heat + isopropyl alcohol 91% or higher. The isopropyl is the key. Also avoid using suction and lifting up on the glass

largely depends on how much, and the quality of the remaining gasket. the reason being is that aftermarket gaskets are aweful. as long as the majoity of your gasket remains i would take that over a crappy aftermarket gasket. obviously replacing with an oem gasket is ideal

Bending that screen that much you didn’t break the glass, but I can guarantee that the LCD was damaged.

@@repaironwheels why didn’t you show in the video that it actually wasn’t broken? You could have plugged it back in and turned on the phone to prove the LCD wasn’t broke. I think you were a little nervous and new that the LCD could have been damaged.

November December 2021 I broke a total of 4 OLEDs, then I found the isopropyl alcohol method and this is all I use now. I don’t even use heat anymore because it’s that successful for me. I now use a different opening tool, an ifixit jimmy with the edges filed down so it’s easier to slot in between the frame and screen. And I only use that because I want to suggest tools I actually know will do the job and the magic glass isn’t available anymore. Literally the way I opened this screen is the same way I will open iPhones for the foreseeable future unless I find a more effective method. I have now started pointing out the oled functionality in my videos due to this comment. Several of which will be releases shortly. I can’t go back in time and remake this video. But I’m willing to put a $1000 bet on the line that I can open a brand new iPhone the way I did in this video

@@repaironwheels yes I did, however I did misplace my heat gun which would of helped greatly, I also didn’t use iso as I’ve heard horror stories of it seeping under the screen, but I’ve also heard many says it’s the best way. I guess you gotta life and learn

Not sure I understand your answer. I asked if you used heat or iso and you said yes. And then proceeded to say that you didn’t use either. The horror stories are with lcds. ISO can get between the lcd and backlight making it really splotchy. That doesn’t happen with oled models. As long as you’re using 91% or higher you’re fine. That and a little heat goes a long way

Is either bad camera or a blown filter that needs to be replaced. If you dont have no microsoldering skills and testing components with multimeter, ill suggest just pay a trusted high rated microsoldering repair man.

12 and 13 series are much harder to open than previous models due to the strength of the perimeter gasket. They are the only screen I have damaged the display trying to open (4 times to date) compared to opening hundreds of X/XS/XsMax/11 pro/11promax often without heat

@@repaironwheels dude doesn't know what he's talking about. I just opened up a 12PM with 99.9 IPA and a isesamo. But quite lucky tbh so I'll just try it with heat too. The only screens I have damaged is the iPhone 12 Mini.... very small which gives less space to work with. Successfully have done many 12 / 12 pros without heat, just 99.9 IPA, suction and isesamo.
