hahah yes - typos are my great weakness for sure 🥴 too bad Grammarly doesn't work in Premiere! And it's a good question. You should always keep a tight seal on any information a client shares with you. If something feels like a conflict of interest to you, make that call. @@elBrytoPOGO

Hi! This video was so helpful! I've been on Fiverr for a little over a year and wasn't worried about the platform fee because I didn't expect to make enough to pay taxes. But I did, so for that reason and a few others, I want to move off the platform. Do you have videos about rebuilding a client base after leaving a freelancing site?

Consider grant writing as an in-demand freelance job! I had to quit my full-time nonprofit job due to health issues, so I started offering freelance grant writing services for nonprofits. Immediately I got more work than I could handle-- the nonprofit world desperately needs grant writers! I have been self-employed for 6 years now, and I can make a living working part-time and arrange my schedule completely around my health needs (as long as I meet my deadlines). It's awesome!

I’m so glad I found you. I’m already without work and I never thought about freelancing like you expressed it. Being out of work for over a year but coming from a mindset of always needing to have a job takes a toll mentally. Video editing and animation are my new career choices as a creative so I’m excited to move forward. Thank you for new perspective.

This video has been really helpful for an aspiring illustrator! I'd like to ask for some advice - in the early steps, do you recommend taking on any and all work? I have been casually without any professional terms by a family friend to illustrate for their children's book. It's an art style and area of the industry I don't really have any passion for, and something I would like to avoid doing in the future, so while I understand the need to grow your portfolio and connections early, I'm also not sure if it's worth potentially setting a precedent in my portfolio that that's the type of work I want to do and be contacted for.

I think if u dont wanmt to do something dont do it as it might then give an impression that u love doing that when u actually don't like it so u should do actually what u want to do and say no to places that u r not interested in as just sayon ur portfolio what u want to do and what u don't want to do so that people will see and if they still ask let them know that I have written that I am not interested in this type of work.

Yes absolutely true I think you need to target specifically who you want to target. It’s literally like a algorithm, it’s like indeed start seeing I got a real good sales job and now all indeed does is refer me to only sales jobs!! (I’m 19 and was working at Walmart prior) and I only got into sales for all that experience and skills but now I only get sales jobs!!!!!! (Ps it’s all fixed and I’m welding for 20/hr full time (it is the most I can get rn)) and it’s real stable for me . But yes I don’t think you should be doing work you don’t want to unless it pays really good. If anything your counter can be something like that you’d love to indulge but it’s not entirely your area of expertise and wouldn’t want to jeopardize what she has in mind… and if she doesn’t care than charge her whatever and get paid and ask for referrals

I started full freelancing on 2020 and it has been great, but I still get some really dry months. I have a few regular clients that do come back once in a while but I'm struggling to get that flowing. It's super scary sometimes, but then, sometimes it's the total opposite and I need to say no.

I think this came at a perfect time for me to hear this! I love the idea of my time being my own. But I wonder if after a while, doesn't it just feel like your clients are your boss? Is the hope to not have many repeat clients, and just be project-based? Do you feel like you have to reply to emails right away and always check? I'd love to go on a hike on a pretty day, then catch up on things at night.

This was exactly it. I started selling solar which I can correlate -owning your own business- with selling solar on a 1099. You rely on someone else, the target… is a human. Like she said, it’s unstable and that’s… just not worth it in -MY- reality. Obviously she’s making money. But she’s not you or I. Being a business owner is very up to what your situation -already- is. Which is why you already want 6 months of emergency fund, running fat on cash when opening up a business, have a house and/or car paid for, debts paid off, etc. it’s why you don’t quit your day job to pursue an entirely new job that hasn’t even started walking yet. It’s better to enter into entrepreneurship when you are -ready-. Meaning if your business doesn’t succeed you have a back up plan, or else all else will fall and you may become homeless. Owning a business is a win all or lose, you give your entire self to it. For me this was a major decision. I decided and acknowledged how much I really enjoy my schedule and how much more i get done in my life… whether I desired it or needed it. I like “the typical 9-5 job” bc once I clock out , it’s all about me . The rest of my time, for the rest of my days that I work with that company, is completely mine. When I was selling Solar, such fucking good money. But I was falling asleep still thinking about a clients project. Waking up hoping a certain permit was approved or waking up to chargebacks, or learning that a certain bill was changed, anything. I was -always- working, in that sense yk? It was like work was ALL DAY. Sourcing for events, networking and being social to ppl when I just really needed a sale, like sure that’s the name of the game is HARD WORK to equal success but all this shit, hoping for somebody to buy my product or service bro, is just stress I don’t need to handle. For whatever 9-5 job whether it’s welding metal, answering a phone, killing cows, running all day, driving a truck, what the fuck ever it is ima just robot that shit. My preference is actually 12-14 hr shifts 4 days on 4 days off but. Just turn off your conscience and then when you’re home turn it back on! I like martial arts, music theory, science, psychology, walking at night, smoking weed in the mornings and nights and most days, welding. So much shit that I honestly don’t think I’d be able to enjoy if I had to manage my own business. And with this much competition with EVERYBODY wanting to own their own business? I think it is ok.
@delayedsantana
@delayedsantana 7 ай бұрын
I’d just rather have a whole bunch of hobbies that I turned into side jobs! And make a full time living off that. I’d literally never feel like I’m working I’d just being doing shit that I like and get paid to do it. But I never quit the 9-5 cs if shit gets wonky … well I guess if kept an emergency fund I’d be fine for a bit then huh 😂

I work from home as a freelance court stenographer. It is nice to work from home, but sometimes you feel like you never leave work. The work can be so busy you have to work 7 days a week to get it all done. Also, in America, freelancers pay way more income tax because they don’t have the employer match. And let’s not forget there’s no paid time off for sick days or vacation. But it is nice to not have to stay in an office when you’re done for the day.

It probably depends how large and established your client companies are. Bigger companies probably have contracts ready to go (or someone who does that sort of thing), but for smaller companies you might need to write your own. I work for small nonprofits and always have to provide a contract.

Hello Erin/ youtube audience. I have a question. I plan to be a stay at home mom until my children are in school. What do you recommend I do in that period to still be hireable when I go back to work 5 years down the line. That or what are some part time work from home jobs you think I could do. Or maybe some type of credential I can work on getting during that time that would allow me to be b home? I already have a bachelor's and a masters.

If you are a good writer and are pretty organized, you might consider writing grants for nonprofits. There is a huge need for grant writing, and you could hone that skill from home, leaving you with a super marketable skill in 5 years. You can take online courses in grant writing and do it on a volunteer basis to get started if you need. I've built a great at-home career out of it!

From my own point of view, you need to invest smartly if you need the good things of life. so far i've made over $255k in raw profits from just 6 months into the market from my diversified portfolio strategy and i believe anyone can do it you have the right strategy, mutual funds takes long time but investing smartly is the key for short term. Most of us tend to pay more attention to the shiniest position in the market to the cost of proper diversification.

She is a popular broker you might have heard of. I can correctly say she's worth her salt as a financial advisor as her diversification skills are top notch, because i see that in her results as my portfolio grows by averages of 10 to 15% on a monthly basis, unlike i can say for my IRA which has just been trudging along, my portfolio just mirrors what she trades and not just on some particular industries of my choosing.
