This is a weird take because all I’ve been hearing from potential employers is that they’re tossing out resumes that are obviously AI generated.

When i lost my mother my director of my department had someone to get in touch with me to let me know to come back when i was ready and did i want my vacation time and my sick time too. He said he didn't do that for everyone.

If you answer with word salad, I’m not hiring you because I don’t hire politicians. Although, I wouldn’t even ask those types of questions. Questions like those can be statements. Answers can be inferred from other sources and observations. If you’re the best candidate you’ll be hired, and the best ability is availability.

Am I one of the few people that thinks most of the questions are just them trying to be nice and considerate 😭?

Also, if you’re quitting, take at least one original quitting letter signed and stamped by the company. In case they say you “abandoned” and try to keep the remaining benefits.

if you're smart enough to have gotten your job 20+ years ago, there is a decent chance that living well below your means has been possible for you. but this isn't really a very useful plan for your target audience

I'm a business owner and I'm not impressed by somebody who can work with AI any moron can type words into a program that does all the work for you I would be more impressed if you developed some kind of software utilizing AI but just knowing how to use it sorry I'm going to be impressed and I would b more turned off than anything

I’m a little confused by what you mean here. AI, in its current implementation, is basically an advanced search engine. You input a prompt and the AI constructs something that fits that prompt, whether it’s text or image. There’s no skill involved. What would you even say on a resume?

AI is laziness. So companies that require it are companies that will not value you as a person and will only see you as a number. Companies you'd want to avoid at all costs.

I was applying for a super important study in Costa Rica and got asked the leadership question and I immediately had an awesome story about how when a was 16 I saved my brother from a potentially life threatening neck break while snowboarding after the ski patrol didn’t take it seriously. I was denied the next day and when I asked why they said “because your story was bullshit” and I was like “uh I have like photons and receipts and proof” and he was like “oh well it’s too late anyways” ffs

Why would you cry at a networking event? I am an extreme introvert who almost never leaves my home, but I don’t care enough about what other people think of me to worry about it at a networking event and start crying in front of others. I was ordered back to work the day agter I buried my husband. Unbelievable. Needless to say that person was no longer my supervisor.

My manager would never contact me in a situation like this, but when my sister died unexpectedly, I did have a co-worker of mine that reached out to ask for something a few days later. If my OOO is still up....don't talk to me. I was doing nothing in my house (COVID times) but that doesn't mean I'm available for work. I ignored it and never spoke of it, and they never brought it up again. I hope they realized their mistake.
