Step-by-step MARKET BAG tutorial!

More and more often I find myself reaching for a bag and this one is the perfect size for just about any purpose. Fun and easy to make!
You will need:
1 yd canvas material (I used Strawberry Fields from Rifle Paper Co.)
1/2 yd cotton (I used Marcia Derse solids: www.marciaderse.com/paletteshop)
3 yds of 1" cotton webbing
rotary cutter
ruler
pins and binder clips

Its so lovely to see a real person actually still producing something so lovely, with some of the struggles most of us have, tiny spaces, forgetting to press seams, I'd rather watch you anyday than an over edited perfectionist. Holly! This is me jumping up and down with excitement that you are sewing and creating another tutorial! You share so many great little tips and have a lovely style that I enjoy following along with. I especially like that you take the time to write out the cutting instructions on paper! Your fabric selections are en pointe!!!

Thanks Holly! Looks so simple . Last time I made a bag, I couldn’t find the right color webbing and the lady at the quilt shop showed me how to cover the webbing on the handles. So simple and it added a different flavor to the bag. Best of both worlds (I hope).

Holly - thanks SOO much for this bag tutorial. This is the easiest one I have ever seen. Makes me want to go and cut up some fabric and make one right now. Love how you did the bottom piece. Love that Rifle Paper Co. fabric. 😍. I think I'd add a zip in the side of the pocket and close the top. Cut the lining 1 inch longer and you'll have a ½" to roll to the front as an accent. Will definitely be making this one. 😁

An idea I had was instead of cutting off the blue pocket fabric since it's right side already (I think) fold it over and put a small seam on it (to look finished) and stitch it to the top of the pocket for a little added interest. Just a thought. I've saved your video and I can't wait to sew this!

This was posted on my sister's birthday last year, and it just showed up today in my suggested videos. I have a very similar sewing philosophy to yours: if you're looking for perfection, don't come knockin' on my door. I get 'er dun, but it ain't perfect. I think if I ever got something done perfectly I'd just throw it away and start over. LOL

I live in Allegheny County, PA, near Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh just banned single use plastic bags, and the county is expected to follow, so I think these would be the perfect Christmas gifts for my coworkers, there are three that work in my department and we do exchange gifts, so thank you so much for the tutorial!
