Stacy Weiss and Will Carpenter created their forever home in an unconventional space: a 1920s commercial building that’s been a mechanic’s garage, a tile store and an artist’s studio. Weiss, owner of Weisshouse, a Pittsburgh resource for high-end vintage home goods, and Carpenter, a general contractor and owner of Carpenter Construction, became their own clients when they finally found this space. “We originally lived in a three-story house, then sold it and rented a loft while looking for a building to repurpose. We knew we wanted an industrial feeling with one-floor living,” Weiss says. Now, what was once a commercial building is reincarnated as a loft-inspired home.

I know exactly where this house is in my old neighborhood. SO exciting to get a peek inside! Absolutely gorgeous and takes advantage of what sunlight Pittsburgh gets. Love their store in Shadyside.

To die for! I love this space and the bold aesthetic. As a former Pittsburgher, I am delighted to see the home of the owner of Weisshouse which is such a great store. I also love hearing the husbands PA accent! :-)

Hiding the ducts was one of the best design decisions they made. Exposed ductwork is so trendy today but the absence of it in this apartment makes the place look more refined. Amazing job.

This home is my DREAM HOME!!! I love it ALL so much!! The art is amazing, i love all the iron-details and the big windows are tooo diiiieee fooooor!!! And the video is so well made! Nice lightning, filming, music, the people have such nice voices to listen to and so forth. HouzzTV is my new favorite youtubechannel!!!

Bertel Ingmar Bertelsen she really does! ..I'm sure it helps that she owns a design store (about 45 minutes from where I live), in Pittsburgh PA. it's called Weisshouse and imo it is a bit pricey, but they have some really cool stuff.

Love the art wall. I always love everybody else's art wall. When I have tried to put my art work together, it doesn't come out right. I think I'm going to have some friends over and let them work on the wall all day (will feed them beer and pizza when they're done). Then I can just come home and I know I'll love it!

I absolutely adore this place. With all the art works. Amazing! I love the details (mixture of frames, displaying the carpets etc.). I would have loved a bare wall, though, with the bricks. Thanks for sharing!

What a beautiful sense of creative space! The only thing I'm not crazy about is the art wall. It just looks to cluttered. But I really Love the industrial look of the ceilings and skylights!!!! The best feature of the house to me are the ceilings with the steel beams and contrasting white with the black beams!!!! A very Awesome looking house! :)

Absolutely one of the best designs I have ever seen.....I also like old garages converted to homes.....your home is complete....one thing I didn't much care for was the wall of art work....it makes the space seem smaller and some of the work I would not consider as art.....it just makes the room seem to filled....but outside of that it is the best......but what do I know I live on a Yacht in Key West Florida...LOL...Paradise.....

The house is great.. i find my tastes swaying from really nice houses to something more basic and instead putting my time to people, my friends and family.
