I had a problem with my 'Y' axis your video helped me get straight to the source and solve it I wish I had seen this before I built my machine would have saved me a lot of heartbreak. All your videos are very informative and full of great tips much better than German instructions which are better then most I have used but lacking in critical areas bolt tightening for instance. Keep up the good work.

This was very helpful. After using my 840 for over two years, I know my way around it quite well. I was feeling defeated on aligning the Y axis after months of trouble free machining. I could not figure out how to fix one lead screw that was wobbling and binding. I did every single thing mentioned in this video and just ran my first job since without issue. This all came about when the machine was running unattended, binded and broke the (nearly brand new) timing belt. I tried for two nights without success to fix the binding issue. Very happy to hopefully have it behind me.

I just bought a 600 three weeks ago, and only just got the y axis sorted now - I wish this video had been around 3 weeks ago. The PAIN (mental, not physical)!!!. That said the feeling was that much sweeter when I eventually got it right.

This video is does help. Takes a lot of patience if you are new to CNC like me but after 7 hours of use and having to re-align this twice by now, it gets easier.

Hello, would like some videos helping us understanding the 3D printing head, the parameters and software! The settings, we are currently having a problem, at 20% the printing head is not printing anything... we think is all about settings and temperatures. Thanks

Thanks a lot for these much needed instructional videos! What is your 100% speed in mm/min? I got my 840 up to 5000mm/min without binding, but I am going to realign (yet again) based on these videos, not for speed but to get more confident the machine does not bind halfway and screws up the job.

Shouldn't the nickels be on the flat sections instead of on the angle part of the gantry? (just nit-picking ;-) ) Very good video! I'm going to have to re-do my alignment, but think I will wait until the X and Z videos come out also! My Z axis seems to be the most sensitive and is lousing steps some. My machine it in one of your enclosures and is a real pain to get in and out there to do this type of work on it.

Stepcraft is a very good machine but you have to tune it very precisely (almost perfectly) if you wanna have a really working machine. Besides the things you have done, I've also added another two final steps to further refine the tuning. In my case I had an apparently unsolvable misalignment of the threaded bar not going up/down, but going left/right!!! After many trials I noticed the problem was a limit in tolerance caused by the thickness of the internal paint around the circular slots for the bearings! I sanded that part of paint and I managed to get a super perfect alignment, while, before sanding, movement was very very hard, almost impossible. Now my Y axis movement is so fluid in gears rotation that I can move it just puffing on the gears 😁 The second and final step I've noticed being very useful to make things even better, is to carry the XZ block to the starting point and letting itself automatically fix the position of the rear panel (afterwards you just have to set a little up/down tolerance of the panel and screw it). Now, carrying the XZ block to the opposite side, it will automatically fix the position of the front panel (repeating the tolerance part before screwing it). Maybe that's not a very common case, but I hope it can help someone who, as me, despite having done all the things according to the instructions, still can't figure it out and doesn't know why. The possible paint related problems are also somehow mentioned in the manual, and it's exactly said to try with sanding if some problems occurr. In fact, a similar problem may occurr in the parts pertinent with the rollers tension tuning; if there is too much paint, when you unscrew the tuning screw, rollers won't loosen because the related block can't slide.

@syntesi_cloud 2 жыл бұрын
@@dawnash2031 I'm happy this helped you, when I first assembled my Stepcraft, I was a little frustrated too, but you have to keep calm and think about what may be wrong in your specific case, temporarily leaving the logic of having to follow the manual step by step as if you were a worker who assembles parts in the factory.
@samj1185

I wouldn't throw mine out the window until after I've beaten it into a thousand pieces. I've tried letting end panels float to 'center' the lead screw. Nothing works. I'm just about done. Do they buy back?
@syntesi_cloud
@syntesi_cloud 2 жыл бұрын
@@samj1185 Have you read my first comment? I can't know your specific case, but, in general, you don't have to float too much end panels in order to let them center. The alignment is much likely the inverse way: lead screws should already be near a centered position, and movements to let the alignment be pèrfect should not be so much large. If you don't have a similar situation, I think the possible cases are three: 1) Some defective pieces which make impossible to obtain a perfect result; 2) You have to sand off the orange varnish inside the round holes of the panels, in order to create a little more tolerance; 3) You have to check the horizontality of the brass pieces which contain the lead screws, and check the good balancement of the brass wheels.
@samj1185
@samj1185 2 жыл бұрын
@@syntesi_cloud so you don't need to let the panels float much to center but you do need to remove paint in the bearing pockets to allow for more movement? so which is it? Defective parts, maybe, possible. I'm at the point of taking the whole thing apart and starting over. Is there a spec for brass wheel balancement? Their expalnation of lead screw nut alignment makes no sense, at all. I've got $1450 in this machine. You give me 1400 and it's all yours. (500w spindle w/ controller) Brand new, never run under power. Bought it from a guy who lost interest. I could throw a dart in the dark and find a better machine.

anybody know where I can buy back the countless hours I've spend fiddle-fhuking w/ this machine? Regardless of how many times I watch the video and follow it exactly, I'm still binding and have no idea how to fix it. Spend a little more and get an I2R or something similar, unless you don't really want to cut and prefer wasting time and money on a GDPOS.
